Salmi Seprianti (1310411054) 1. How could we say that use fractional distillation get the more purity of distillate than others distillation method? Answer: Because in fractional ditillation tool has the fractional column that has more condenser than other distillation. 2. Could azeotrop compound use simple distillation ? Give the reason! Answer: For the first distillation, we can use simple distillation. But, at the certain temperature and composition, we can not use it anymore because because the composition of the mixture will always remain. We have to use azeotrop distillation by adding the material separation agent. Actually, the principle of simple distillation is same. But, there is the differences in adding some chemical agent. 3. Why is in the vacuum distillation the used pressure have to be reduced? Answer: usually, in the vacuum distillation is used for temperature sensitivity materials. By reduced the pressure, the boiling point of compound to be reduced also. Hence, the materials do not need long time to reach the its actual boiling point and the temperature is not become so high as the its boiling point. Aubrey Ridha Hadyana (1210413006) 1. How the principle of the separation of the distillation process? Answer : The distillation process is based on the separation of a compound based on differences in boiling point of a mixture. Separation is done by boiling a mixture of substances to evaporate and then cooled again in liquid form, in which a substance that has a lower boiling point will evaporate first. 2. Why steam distillation is commonly used for essential oils? Answer : Because the steam distillation can vaporize compounds from natural products with temperatures under 100oC, so that steam distillation can separate a mixture of compounds under the boiling point of each mixture compound. 3. What principle of fractional distillation and mentioned one application! Answer : Fractional distillation is usually used to separate mixtures of liquids which have a boiling point difference does not differ much. This distillation can be used to separate substances that have a range of different boiling point to below 300C. Distillation was also conducted on constant pressure. Application of

Application of this distillation is used in the crude oil industry, to separate the components of crude oil.
