Science @ Greenmount On the 20th October a team of 4 students travelled to Scitech with me for the day to take part in the 2014 Scitech Challenge Day. It was a fantastic day with a full range of tasks spread across the day for 31 teams from all over Perth. The teams worked independently without any teacher support to work through

challenges in physics, chemistry, and astronomy. There was a huge range of skills applied from working through a full scientific investiga-tion, problem solving tasks and rounds of quiz questions in the plane-tarium. ‘The Green Team’ included Maya Kohe Love, Angus Roach, Nicole Purling and Tom Matthews . They worked together with amazing team

work and cooperative skills, listening to one another and making joint decisions for each task through the day. As a result they achieved a truly awesome 5th place out of the 31 teams competing! I could not be more proud of the way they conducted themselves and the way they fully engaged in every single opport- unity put before them to challenge themselves in the area of science. Well done ‘Green Team’ you were amazing! Mrs McGlew

My

Pink

Ribbon Day

On the 7th November I went to the Heliwest Hanger at Jandakot Airport. One of

my Mum’s friends Kristy has Breast Cancer. We had a Pink Ribbon morning tea

and everyone brought pink cakes. Kristy shaved her long, curly and beautiful hair

first because otherwise it would fall out from chemotherapy (radiation). Kirsty and

her Mum cried a bit but I felt sorry. Then four others shaved their hair too. Jacob

had long hair like a girl until he shaved it off. I was one of them and I was shaved

with a 2. When Kristy finished shaving her hair everyone clapped and had a laugh

and everyone was positive about it. I raised over $100 from the donation box at

school, overall the event raised $2500. Thank you to everyone who supported

me. Liam McChesney

2015 Enrolments/Leavers Please could any families that are leaving the school next year, and have not informed the office, let the admin staff know as soon as possible.

A windy and showery day loomed ahead for our competitors at the Hills Interschool Sports Association Athletics Carnival. The Carnival was held at the Mundaring Recreation Grounds. All Greenmount students were courteous and well behaved. We competed to the best of our abilities. An outstanding individual effort by Charlie Beazley saw her become the Senior Champion Girl of the Athletics Carnival. In the final wrap up, St Anthony’s won the Team Games Trophy, Middle Swan won the Overall Champion School shield and Greenmount won the Meritorious Award Trophy (only the third time since 1998). Well done to all the students who competed. Let’s hope we can do as well as next year. Mr Hodgson
