Overview of personal grants

> Rubicon offers talented researchers who have completed their doctorates in the past year the chance to gain experience at a top research institution outside the Netherlands, as international research experience is likely to be an advantage at a later stage in the applicant's academic career

It covers:

- your salary including fringe benefits,

- travel costs and

- a limited amount for research costs

Deadlines:

- in 2017 are 30 March, 31 August and 30 November

Duration: 1-2 years at an excellent research institution outside the Netherlands

Rubicon (NWO)

> It allows researchers who have recently obtained their PhD to conduct independent research and develop their ideas for a period of three years

Target group:

- excellent researchers with a striking and original talent as well a considerable fascination for doing challenging and pioneering research.

- The focus in this respect is on innovative and curiosity-driven research.

- The candidates are at the start of their academic career but have already demonstrated a striking talent for doing scientific research.

- It is essential that researchers should have the ability to formulate and conduct a line of scientific research independently

- Promoting female researchers

Deadline: January 10, 2017

Veni (NWO)

• No restriction after PhD or age

• Fixed grant: own salary + allowances

• Goals: mobility / skills / training

• 2 individual grant schemes:

• European Fellowship

• Global Fellowship

• Deadline in September each year

• Mobility rule (<12m in the 3y prior to deadline in hosting country)

MSCA (ERC) - MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIPS

• 12-24 months in a EU Research Institute

• Researcher: any nationality

• Host: EU

MSCA European Fellowship

• Outgoing phase: 12 – 24 months

• Mandatory return phase: 12 months

• Host: non-EU

• What new skills are you going to bring back to EU?

• Researcher benefits from knowledge from academia outside Europe and applies knowledge at academia in Europe

MSCA Global Fellowships

• Researchers from abroad with above average qualifications, at the beginning of your academic career and only completed your doctorate in the last four years.

• A Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers allows you to carry out long-term research (6-24 months) in Germany.

• Applicants choose their own research topic and academic host.

• Scientists and scholars of all nationalities and disciplines may apply to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation online at any time.

• Short-term study visits, participation in congresses and training courses cannot be financed.
