WE ARE A SPECIALIST IN...

Our Company Our Mills

Oji Fibre Solutions is a company with fresh ideas and optimism, built on a solid heritage. We are already one of Australasia’s leading producers of market pulp, paper and fibre-based packaging. We are a company committed to delivering environmentally sustainable products, and a company made up of passionate people. Oji Fibre Solutions is comprised of three mills in the North Island of New Zealand and two associated operational units of Fullcircle and Lodestar. Oji Fibre Solutions also has packaging operations throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Our global direction Oji Fibre Solutions’ total production of market pulp and linerboard is over 900,000 tonnes per year. Around 40% of this is sold to customers in New Zealand and Australia, with the balance exported across the globe. As a producer of a globally-traded product we face a challenge to maintain a cost-competitive position, and achieve growth through differentiation.

Kinleith MillLocated in the heart of the North Island, our Kinleith Mill produces around 600,000 tonnes of packaging papers and bleached softwood kraft market pulp every year. Our products are made from virgin and recycled fibre, which are converted by our packaging sites and our customers, into different products. We have multiple touchpoints across domestic and global industries; from cardboard boxes and bags to tissues, nappies and more.

Tasman MillNestled within the Tarawera Valley of New Zealand’s North Island, our Tasman Mill produces around 300,000 tonnes of unbleached kraft market pulp used for a variety of products, and fibre cement pulp used in specialist building materials. As the largest employer of the Eastern Bay of Plenty region, our Tasman Mill offers plenty of opportunities to learn from our experts.

Penrose MillLocated in Auckland, our Penrose Mill takes around 100,000 tonnes of mixed waste paper every year and turns that into more than 80,000 tonnes of recycled paper. Our customers and our own packaging operations give the recycled paper a new life, converting it into packaging products for a range of industries.

Environment & Sustainability

Renewable, recyclable & sustainable is our natural advantage.New Zealand is famed for its unspoilt natural environment – we aim to keep it that way. An absolute commitment to environmental responsibility is an integral part of our business philosophy. This begins with wood fibre sourced from responsibly managed exotic plantation forests. Our mills hold sustainability certification for fibre supply under FSC and PEFC. Both the Tasman and Kinleith Mills are required to comply with strict environmental law and resource consents which regulate standards for air, water and land. Tasman Mill also holds the externally audited international environmental standard ISO 14001. Our Kinleith and Penrose mills are at the heart of New Zealand’s paper recycling, supported by our Fullcircle recycling service, producing nearly 200,000 tonnes per year of recycled paper.

EnergyA large part of our operations are energy intensive, using large amounts of biofuels, wood waste and geothermal energy. Over 78% of our energy is from renewable sources. Efficient energy use is essential to running our mills as energy is the second largest annual cost to the business. Over the years, changes have occurred to make significant improvements to the business’ environmental cost structure.

Health Safety & WellbeingYour health and safety is of utmost importance to us. We have robust systems and processes in place to ensure everyone goes Safely Home Every Day. We have set firm targets for injury prevention and work hard to constantly improve our performance.

Our Graduate Programme

At Oji Fibre Solutions we aim to offer our graduates extensive sound engineering experience. We provide exciting engineering projects, a friendly work environment and a structured mentoring programme. Our Graduate Programme covers the three main engineering disciplines – Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical engineering. The programme runs for a two-year period with ongoing targeted personal development.

Performance reviews offer the opportunity for incremental salary increases every six months. All new graduates are matched with a mentor to oversee their programme. Mentors act as sounding boards for work and career issues. As a graduate you will be part of a small committed group of peers.
