Welcome to the Gracenote Logo and Brand Guidelines for

Automotive Systems. This guide provides a framework for

consistent application of the Gracenote identity.

Gracenote requires any company that will be offering Gracenote

products and technologies to first enter into an agreement with

Gracenote regarding the use of Gracenote trademarks. As the

Gracenote products and technologies expand to meet the needs

of consumers, it is important that the Gracenote brand, including

all the elements that make up the company’s visual identity, remain

consistent.

We appreciate your commitment to these standards. If you have any

• Automotive Faceplates

Automotive systems featuring Gracenote technology or

content must have the Gracenote logo on the front of

the device if other third-party technology or content

brands are also represented. This logo may also be

used on promotional materials, advertising, Web sites,

manuals and other documentation.

• Product Packaging for Automotive Aftermarket

Products for Audio & Navigation Systems

Products and devices featuring Gracenote technology or

content must include the Gracenote logo on the outside

product packaging if other third-party technology or

content brands are also represented. 1 Gracenote Logo – FaceplatesAutomotive systems featuring Gracenote technology or content must have the Gracenote logo on the front of the device if other third-party technology or content brands are also represented.

■ Gracenote Logo

• Branding for Media Updates

The Gracenote logo must appear on the front of each

copy of the database update media packaging, (i.e.

CDs, SD Cards) provided by automaker or dealer.

• Branding for Web Site or Connected Updates

If automaker provides online updates to the Gracenote

database, the Gracenote logo must appear on the Web

site where the database update is made available.

The Powered by Gracenote logo must also appear

on-screen in the car for at least the first three (3)

seconds of the database update process. Refer to page

7 for the Powered by Gracenote logo usage parameters.

1 Gracenote Database UpdatesThe Gracenote logo must appear on the packaging for database updates provided by dealers or on the Web site where updates are made available for consumers.

2 Powered by Gracenote logo - Database Update ProcessThe Powered by Gracenote logo must also appear on-screen in the car for at least the first three (3) seconds of the database update process. Refer to page 7 for the Powered by Gracenote logo usage parameters.

■ Gracenote Logo Parameters

When using the Gracenote logo, the following parameters apply:

• The Gracenote logo should not appear crowded by other elements,

therefore the use of clear space is essential. The clear space

surrounding the Gracenote logo should be greater or equal to the

height of the logo, except when space does not permit.

• The Gracenote logo should be printed at a minimum of 30mm

wide. The Gracenote logo should always be sharp and crisp

whenever reproduced.

• The Gracenote logo should be reproduced as accurately as

possible to the artwork. The Gracenote logo should always appear

on a clean, solid background. When placing the logo on an

illustration or photograph, make sure the area where the logo is

positioned is as clear as possible from any patterns and color

variations.

3 Color Variations and BackgroundsThe Gracenote logo should be reproduced as accurately as possible to the artwork in the approved colors. DO NOT place logo on busy backgrounds or on backgrounds that do not provide enough contrast.

■ Powered by Gracenote Logo – User Interfaces

• The Powered by Gracenote logo must appear

onscreen for at least the first three (3) seconds of a

look-up whenever accessing the Gracenote Media

Database. However, Gracenote recognizes that these

guidelines may need to be modified on a case by

case basis. Contact your Professional Services

Account Manager with any questions.

• Gracenote MusicID® Radio Recognition

When Gracenote is identifying music from satellite or

terrestrial radio sources, the Powered by Gracenote

logo must appear onscreen for at least the first (3)

seconds after the user switches to the radio source

where the recognition is taking place.

• Gracenote MusicID® / Playlist Plus™

Gracenote MusicID® / Playlist Plus identifies digital files

on a driver’s smart phone or USB device, associates

Genre, Origin, Era, Mood and Tempo classifications

and organizes and fills-in missing metadata. When

Gracenote is indexing music from mobile devices and

USB drives, the Powered by Gracenote logo must

appear on-screen for the first three (3) seconds of the

indexing process.

• Gracenote MediaVOCS®

Gracenote MediaVOCs improves the accuracy of voice

recognition systems for music search and navigation,

making it easier for drivers to access artists and

albums with simple voice commands. The Powered

by Gracenote logo must appear in the user interface

if other third-party voice recognition branding, such as

Nuance, is also present.

2 Gracenote MusicID® / Playlist Plus™The Powered by Gracenote logo can also be placed on the Audio Settings menu for Music Info Clean-up or Media Management functions.

1 User InterfacesThe Powered by Gracenote logo must appear for at least the first 3 seconds of device indexing.

• Gracenote MoodGrid™

Gracenote MoodGrid lets music fans create playlists to

match their ever-changing moods. The customer has

the option to place the Powered by Gracenote logo

on an opening splash screen, a results page featuring

mood-based playlists, or during the look-up. The logo

should appear for at least three (3) seconds for any of

these options.

■ Powered by Gracenote Logo Parameters

When using the Powered by Gracenote logo, the following

parameters apply:

• The Powered by Gracenote logo should not appear crowded by

clear space surrounding the Powered by Gracenote logo should be

equal to the height of the logo, except when space does not

• If space does not permit for the Powered by Gracenote logo on the

• The Powered by Gracenote logo should be used at a minimum of

30mm wide. The Powered by Gracenote logo should always be

sharp and crisp whenever reproduced.

• The Powered by Gracenote logo should be reproduced as

accurately as possible to the artwork. The Gracenote logo should

always appear on a clean, solid background. When placing the

■ General Logo and Word (Text) Usage Guidelines

• The Gracenote or Powered by Gracenote logos should never be

altered in any way. They should never be used as part of any other

symbol or logotype.

• Do not scale inappropriately, rotate, use incorrect colors, rearrange

or add additional elements.

• When logos of third-party companies (or technologies belonging to

third-party companies) are displayed, the Gracenote or Powered by

Gracenote logo should be displayed with equal prominence to the

other third-party logos.

• All logos must have the ® symbol on the lower right hand side.

This mark is provided with the logo artwork. When scaling the logo,

the size of the ® symbol may need to be adjusted.

• When reproducing Gracenote logos, use only EPS electronic

artwork provided by Gracenote Inc.

• When using any of the Gracenote text trademarks in print, online,

or on products, they must always be legible and attributed with the

appropriate Print Trademark Attributions (TA).

• When referencing or using Gracenote text trademarks, use the

superscript TM, SM, or ® symbol, as appropriate, after each

Gracenote text trademark at its first use (e.g., titles, headlines,

taglines, paragraph headings, etc.) and at its first use in text or

body copy.

When using any of the Gracenote logo

trademarks or Gracenote word trademarks,

they should appear and be attributed with the

appropriate Print Trademark Attribution (TA).

• When more than one Gracenote trademark

is used or referenced to in materials, Print

Trademark Attributions can be combined.

For example:

Gracenote, the Gracenote logo and

logotype, “Powered by Gracenote” and

Gracenote MusicID are either registered

trademarks or trademarks of Gracenote, Inc.

in the United States and/or other countries.
