November 11, 2018 ~ 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time The Rich Widow In this Sundays Gospel, we hear the story of the poor widow. Is the widow so poor or are we the ones that are so poor? The widow gives her whole livelihood, but she knows something. She knows that God will give so much more in return. She is rich in what matters, God. She has learned only what the saints know. That God is much more generous. She has learned to depend on God. One of my fa- vorite lyrics is you can say its mine and clench your fist or see each sunrise as a gift*.How can we unclench our fist, give of ourselves and see the gifts that God wants to give us? God wants to give us so much more, but we have to be willing to let go of what we are holding onto right now. What are we holding onto right now? Are we holding onto a codependent rela- tionship where the other person makes all the decisions for you, where you are scared to make decisions for yourself and to be your own person? Are we holding onto some drug or pattern that is keeping us from living a full life? Are we hold- ing onto money for the next latest and greatest thing? Are we holding onto our time from sharing it with some ministry or need? What are we holding onto? Are we missing the sunrise? God bless, Fr. The Rich Widow

In this Sunday’s Gospel, we hear the story of the poor widow. Is the widow so poor or are we the ones that are so poor? The widow gives her whole livelihood, but she knows something. She knows that God will give so much more in return. She is rich in what matters, God. She has learned only what the saints know. That God is much more generous. She has learned to depend on God. One of my fa-vorite lyrics is “you can say it’s mine and clench your fist or see each sunrise as a gift*.” How can we unclench our fist, give of ourselves and see the gifts that God wants to give us? God wants to give us so much more, but we have to be willing to let go of what we are holding onto right now.

What are we holding onto right now? Are we holding onto a codependent rela-tionship where the other person makes all the decisions for you, where you are scared to make decisions for yourself and to be your own person? Are we holding onto some drug or pattern that is keeping us from living a full life? Are we hold-ing onto money for the next latest and greatest thing? Are we holding onto our time from sharing it with some ministry or need? What are we holding onto? Are we missing the sunrise?

God bless, Fr. Chris

7th & 8th Grade Saints

This past week Good Shepherd

7th and 8th grade students held

their annual “Evening with the

Saints” event. The students re-

searched a Saint and then held a

“living museum” where fami-

lies, friends and other students

were able to watch the saints

come alive and share their life

stories

On Halloween Mrs. Fishback’s

kindergarten class visited sev-

eral area businesses on their

Trick or Treat Trail. Thank you

to the Health Department, the

County Courthouse offices,

The Wegmann Law Firm and

the Rectory for welcoming us

and helping to make our day a

little more special.

On Saturday November 3, from 10:00a.m.- 2:00p.m. the Parish

Council & Stewardship Council hosted and facilitated a Parish

Leadership Team meeting in the Cafeteria. The Finance Council

supported and engaged in the conversations which focused on two

primary goals of the Parish: School Viability and a Parish Mission

Team to explore and organize future Mission Trips for both adults

and youth. Thank you to the 30 parishioners who

accepted the invitation to represent various minis-

tries and organizations. The many ideas and in-

sights shared added to valuable conversations.

Communications and updates will be forthcoming.

God ‘s blessings ...

BEYOND SUNDAY Impact Report Fall 2018

Stewardship Reflection “I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, her whole living.” MARK 12:43-44 Jesus gets right to the point – we are all called to give money to support the mission of the Church, regardless of our circumstance. No gift is too small or insignificant! Giving money to support the mission of our local parish is a matter of our faith, just like praying and participating in parish ministries. When you make a financial offering, is it from your “first fruits” or from what is “left over”?
