GOLF IN SOUTH MORAVIA
The Czech Republic is one of the most progressive European golf destina-
tions. There are nearly 80 golf courses at the moment and many more are
being built. When comparing with other countries you may say there should
be more golf courses in the area of South Moravia. That is certainly true but
on the other hand the South-Moravian golf courses attract many golfers
thanks to a perfect combination of golf and other activities. Hotels, intere-
sting restaurants and other services for tourists can be found directly at golf
courses but of course there are also many unique curiosities around. There
is no other place in the Czech Republic where you can play golf and watch
racing superbikes at the same time. This is possible only at the Automotodrom
Brno golf course. A stone menhir, bridges and other curiosities created in style
SOUTH MORAVIA – THE GOLF‘S PROMISED LAND
of the legendary St. Andrews can be found at the Korenec golf course. Experience the touch
of history when playing golf in Slavkov (Austerlitz) - near the famous Napoleon’s battlefi eld.
South-Moravian golf courses do not fall behind with their off er of popular tourist packages.
The main advantage of the Czech golf market is the off er of rich cultural heritage and a vast
range of historical sights. Therefore we have added several tips for natural and cultural sight-
seeing in the vicinity of each golf course. Although we off er courses of various type, length
and diffi culty they all have one thing in common: sensitive location in a picturesque landscape.
Be careful, those impressive views might entice you away from the green world!
The region of South Moravia offers all that makes your holiday enjoyable.
Except for golf there are so many things to do, sights to see and traditional
products to sample. You should try the famous Moravian wine and regional
dishes. There are many unique natural, historical and technical sights and also
plenty of entertainment for your children. All fi gured up and the result is clear
– all that remains is to pack up and hit the road.
Do you like the romance of old ages? Then you are in the right place because
no other region of the Czech Republic off ers so many castles and chateaus
like the South Moravia. If you are looking for something really unique then go
the famous Lednice-Valtice area which has been also registered in the list
of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (UNESCO). In case you want to see
the biggest collection of stuff ed dogs of various breed (listed in the Guiness
Book of Records) then you should visit the Bítov Castle. A magnifi cent view
of the Dyje river valley is from terraces of the chateau in Vranov nad Dyjí
and Nový Hrádek u Lukova. We should not forget to mention the Pernštejn
Castle which plays an important role in many Czech fairytales and movies.
The South-Moravian region is also famous for all types of wine – white, rose
and red, sweet and dry, simply wide range of fl avors and bouquets. In case you
are not fully satisfi ed with the off er of wine in golf resorts then visit the Salon
EXPLORE SOUTH MORAVIA
of Wine in the Valtice Chateau where you can sample and buy the best Czech wines with as-
sistance of a local sommelier. Useful information on many Czech wine cellars, interesting events
and places can be also found at www.wineofczechrepublic.cz.
You will probably encounter the traditional folklore and regional folk customs during your stay
as well. Experience the magic of forgotten handicrafts, airy and lavishly embroidered costumes,
colorful decorations of Slovácko and folk songs – besides, nothing else can better resound
a wine cellar than tender and rhythmical folk songs with a dulcimer band accompaniment.
There are many activities also for those who travel with children. The Moravian Karst with the fa-
mous Macocha Abyss, Punkevní Cave and boat cruise on subterranean stream of the river Punkva
off ers a great adventure. Your children will certainly love the Aquapark and Dinopark in Vyškov,
ZOO in Brno and Hodonín or real Wild West atmosphere in a Western town in Boskovice.
Finally we can not skip this question: Will you have any time left for golf?
