OLove God. Love People.

Make A Difference.

Our 2020 vision:  Impacting 1000 families with the life changing love of Jesus.

As we live out our mission, by the end of 2020 Good Samaritan will regularly impact 1000 families by making a difference in our local community and world.  We will do

this by connecting them to the life changing love of Jesus and by creating more room on our campus through the addition of a sanctuary and the expansion of our academy.

FROM THE PASTOR

High temperatures beyond the freezing point!

It’s finally happening back where I grew up on the farm in North Dakota. The long winter has finally and mercifully ended. Now farmers can get about the business of planting their crops.

I remember this time of the year very well back there. There was an excitement about being able to get in the field and plant the crops. The winter had been long and cold but now things were springing back to life.

The seeds would be planted. The wait began. The soil needed to warm up and then eventually we would see the small green plants begin to emerge. For some time it seemed like it wouldn’t happen, but it always did. Life always sprang forth. The seeds might have seemed dead, but there was hope. And the hope was not misplaced.

We are in the midst of our sermon series “The Walking Dead” where we defined “walkers” (the term from the TV show for zombies) as “people who are alive but spiritually dead.” This was true for all of us before Christ saved us from our sins - we were alive but still dead.

Sometimes, however, we still feel like “walkers.” The business and busyness of life can rob us of the time we need to spend with God and eventually the disconnect can lead to lifelessness.

That’s when we need to remember Paul’s words to the Galatians (see below) when he reminds us that Christ lives in us. And, obviously, if Jesus lives in us we will always have the perfect Life Source … even if we feel a bit dead.

Does the pace of life and all its circumstances make you feel like that seed in the cold North Dakota soil? There is something in that seed, although it seems dead, that is waiting to be unleashed. Once the conditions are right miracles begin to happen and the sprouting begins. It is not dead. It is alive.

There is something (someone) in you that is waiting to be unleashed! Connect with Jesus, worship, pray, spend some quiet time with God. These things will help you come back to life when it does not seem possible.

The miracle of life is a gift from God through Christ Jesus our Lord!

Blessings,

Pr. Scott

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

Current Sermon Series Stop walking around like a zombie. Learn to live more fully, engaging in meaningful ways with God as well as with those around you.  Our current sermon series, “The Walking Dead”, has focused on what Jesus said and taught after he had defeated death and risen from the grave. Before Jesus ascended into heaven, the Bible has much to tell us regarding his interactions with his disciples as well as many others. Those interactions have much to teach us about how we can live our lives more fully. We will also spend some time talking about heaven and what Jesus taught us about life after death. This sermon series continues through May as we will hear messages on the following topics:Part 5:Is Hell For Real?Part 6:The Easter EffectPart 7:And He Ascended Into Heaven

Be sure to continue with us through this sermon series and if you have not had an opportunity to hear the previous messages from this series you can always revisit the sermons online at goodsamlv.com or through our Facebook page.

A Note From Miss Jamie. We are excited to be starting a new curriculum this month. For the past year, we have been exploring the life of Jesus. Now, we will be digging into the “Bible in One Year”. This hands on curriculum will take the kids on a whirlwind journey from Genesis to Revelation. Kids will get to experience a relationship with God through the eyes of ordinary Bible people.

Sr High Series: Unbelievable A 4-WEEK SERIES ON DOUBT

We may not like to admit it, but we all have questions and doubts about our faith. In this series, we’ll help teenagers see that our doubts and questions don’t have to destroy our faith, but refusing to talk about them might. For the next four weeks, we’ll encourage teenagers to wrestle with their doubts by voicing their questions, understanding their perspective is limited, remembering how Jesus has transformed their lives, and considering why they followed Jesus in the first place.

Jr High Series: Squad (Starting May 13) A SERIES ON FRIENDSHIP

We all want to have friends, but what does Jesus teach us about friendships? In this series, we will look at the friends we have, the friend we are, and the decisions we are making in our relationships to see if we have #friendshipsgoals or #friendshipfails in our lives. For the last three weeks we will learn how to be a friend to others based on our friendship with Jesus, how having friends makes our journey easier, and how sometimes confrontation can lead to more healthy relationships.

Girl’s & Guy’s NightDo you ever wish you could just spend some meaningful time with your teenager, but don’t know where to start? Start here. We are inviting you to a special event, curated for you and your teen to experience quality time that could impact your relationship like nothing else. Enjoy food and fun of course, but also open doors for communication and learn more about this child (…stranger?) you live with. You do not want to miss this awesome opportunity. Open to ALL teens and their parents/parent figures.
