• VOC CompliantVolatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted frommany sources, including certain cleaning chemicals,natural vegetation (plants and trees) and industrialprocesses. When VOCs mix with nitrogen oxidegases and sunlight, ozone is formed. Ozone is goodfor the environment in the stratosphere (upper layerof the atmosphere) because it protects the earthfrom ultraviolet radiation. But in the troposphere(lowest layer of the atmosphere), it has harmfulhealth effects to all living things. In an effort tolower VOC emissions, various agencies have putregulations in place to limit the amount of VOCs inchemical cleaning products.

• No Chlorine BleachChlorine Bleach is highly corrosive to humans andmany substrates. It can irritate the skin, eyes andrespiratory tract, as well as degrade many metals.

• No PhosphatesEutrophication is the enrichment of water withnutrients, usually phosphorous and nitrogen, whichstimulates the growth of algae and aquatic plants.When all these algae and plants die, there is anincreased demand for biochemical oxygen as theorganisms decay. The dissolved oxygen concentrationcan drop too low for fish to breathe, causing fishkill. Phosphates are also difficult and expensive toremove in sewage treatment facilities.

• No APE (NPE) surfactantsResearch by international environmental agencies hasled to concerns regarding APEs in the environmentand their harm to aquatic life. We are taking anenvironmentally proactive measure and excludingAPE surfactants from our EnviroEdge product line.

• No EDTAEDTA (EthyleneDiamineTetraacetic Acid) is a chelatingagent that binds to heavy metals. EDTA does notbiodegrade and has the potential to accumulate inwaste effluents.

• Biodegradable SurfactantA product is biodegradable when it is broken down bynatural processes (microorganisms) into basic organiccomponents over a period of time. Biodegradablesurfactants in EnviroEdge products break down intocarbon dioxide, water and minerals.
