You can at any time disable the Digital Trends App’s access to usage information through the device
settings. However, please note that blocking access to certain types of information may negatively
impact your eligibility for the Project and rewards. Therefore, a regular reminder will be displayed
once you revoke Digital Trends App’s permissions to access general app usage information.
All necessary steps and settings are described below:

4 The “Private mode”
The “Private mode” is a privacy protective feature that allows you to temporarily suspend the data
collection by the app. In “Private mode” the app will not record any data so that you can, for
example, surf the web in private.
To enter the “Private mode” go to the app’s
menu and tap on:
To stop the “Private mode” go to the app’s
menu and tap on:
While in “Private mode”, you will be reminded by an app notification from time to time to return to

permanently.

…either tap on “DEACTIVATE” to deactivate
the “Private mode” immediately
…or tap on “REMIND ME LATER” to stay in
“Private mode” until the next reminder.
You may at any time continue the “Private mode”, when active, by choosing…
…from the app’s menu.

5 Updating the app
The Google Play Store regularly checks for updates and will notify you if an update is available.
Updating the app does not require a new registration or activation code.
Depending on your Android version, you may be prompted to grant the app access to information
about your app usage. Please see section “Request for permission to record information on app
usage” above.
Along with update notifications for your other apps, the Google Play Store app will notify you when
an update for the Digital Trends App is available. Tapping on the update notification, clears this
notification, then opens the Google Play Store app and lists all installed apps. Apps for which
updates are available can be found at the top of the list. The update notification will only reappear
when an update for any of your installed apps is available. Normally, only updates for apps originally
installed through the Google Play Store app are detected. However, you may also receive a
notification from the Digital Trends App itself in case there is a new version available for
download in the Google Play Store. Below is an example of what this scenario may look like:
Important: Updating will stop the app.
Please restart the app after updating by simply tapping on its icon.

app. Errors occurring during the activation will be displayed as an information dialog. After a

7 How to proceed when the app shows as “deactivated”
If you encounter an "App deactivated" message
on the start screen, this indicates that GfK has
remotely deactivated the app on your device.
This could be due to a number of reasons, such
as, at your request, when you withdrew from
participating, or because the project has ended.
In that case, please remove the app from
your device (see next section).
If you have any questions or believe that the app
has been deactivated by mistake please contact
the helpdesk.

apps may differ from the figure below, depending on the device type and the Android version.
Go to Settings > Apps (or similar wording
depending on the device) and select the Digital
Trends App:
Select “Uninstall”. Confirm the upcoming
dialog with “OK”:
