Community Connections

Community Connections are community, emotional wellbeing support services for adults experiencing mental ill health in Surrey. They can be accessed by anyone interested in receiving support for emotional wellbeing. The services accept self-referrals, and referrals from GPs and Mental Health staff

They offer services including: One to one support, e.g. Recovery Star Support groups, e.g. depression, eating disorder, bipolar support Walking groups Drop in services Art groups Mindfulness sessions Social events and peer support Confidence building courses Signposting to local agencies, e.g. for employment support.

Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)

IAPT provides help and support for people over 18 years who are registered with a GP in Surrey who are experiencing mild to moderate mental ill-health. This can include stress, low mood, anxiety, panic attacks, depression (including pre and post natal), obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, post traumatic stress and eating difficulties (not severe).

Safe HavensSafe Havens are safe and friendly places to talk to someone for emotional and mental health support if you (or the person you care for) are experiencing a crisis – enabling you to take control of, and improve, your own mental health.The havens also give people the opportunity to drop in and meet others who may be in a similar situation – doors are open to anyone.

Tandridge Social Prescribing Project /Wellbeing Prescription Project

GPs can refer patients to Wellbeing Advisor, who can signpost them to a wide range of activities across the district. This is a great opportunity for adults to improve their health, reduce pressure on health services and to join up health and wellbeing activities in the area.

Macmillan Support Line : Information to support individuals with and caring for those with a diagnosis of cancer. Includes and online community.

East Surrey Macmillan Cancer Support Centre: The cancer support centre offers those affected by cancer additional holistic care in a friendly, informal and non-clinical environment. The offer includes complementary therapy and counselling and emotional support.

Brigitte Trust: A non-nursing service which offers support such as emotional support, transport to appointments, sitting with a family member to give carers a break, collecting children from school and shopping

Jigsaw: supports bereaved children, young people and their families and also those affected by a
