COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS PARENT MEETINGSThe Cupertino Union School District is currently engaging in a systemicconversation regarding the implementation of the Common Core State Standards(CCSS) across the District. The CCSS were established through a state-ledinitiative to establish consistent and clear education standards that would better prepare students for success in the competitive global economy. The CCSS willbe fully implemented by the 2014-2015 school year with the current CaliforniaStandards Tests be ing replaced with a national exam during the same year.

he shift to the CCSS is providing an opportunity for the Cupertino Union School District and school sites to evaluate the ways aorld-class education can be delivered to our students utilizing essential skills such as critical thinking, communication, llaboration, and creativity/innovation.

he parent community is a crucial part of the shift to the CCSS. The first step of this process is to hold a series of parent informationghts to provide the community an overview and introduction to the CCSS.
