WALK AROUND POSTPONEDhe Walk Around, originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been rescheduled for Friday, April 27, after thepring Recess. The forecast for tomorrow is rain, and we want to do our best to plan for a successfulvent, and not disappoint our enthusiastic GATORS! So, keep those walking shoes ready and well seeou on the field!

    PRING RECESS

arden Gate will be closed Monday, April 16 through Friday, April 20, for our Spring Recess. We are allooking forward to enjoying some well-deserved rest, relaxation and play. May you travel safely and build great memories.chool will resume on Monday, April 23.

DISMISSAL TIMEarents, please remember that there are two designated waiting areas on campus where we'd like you to wait for your Fourthr Fifth Grade student to be released from class: Under the shade structure (lunch tables) or at the tables in front of the Cafe

Window (snack tables). Please do not wait in the hallways, as low noise, such as conversation, can be disruptive for classestill in session. Similarly, for safety and security reasons, students are not permitted to play on the play structures or theacktop areas after school. Instead, please have your children wait, seated, with you. The Garden Gate Staff appreciates youupport with maintaining our learning environment and keeping students safe.

RAFFIC AND PARKING LOTtudent safety is our first priority. Follow these simple rules to ensure student safety: Always drop off along the curb. Do notlow your child to get out of the car in the parking lot alone, and attempt to walk across the parking lot. The curb is a Noarking Anytime zone. When at the curb, drivers must remain in their vehicles at all times. Drivers who leave their vehiclesnattended, may be ticketed by the Cupertino Sheriffs Department. Always cross at a cross walk. Hold your childs hand, andeach your child to always look both ways. Avoid getting stuck in traffic. Leave home earlier to make sureour child arrives at school on time. Students may be on campus beginning at 7:45 a.m.

    LANNING AHEAD

rain scientists now know what parents have always suspected: Kids just arent very good at planninghead. But that doesnt mean parents cant help children develop this skill. Answer yes or no to theuestions below to see if you are teaching your child to look ahead:

___1. Do you talk with your child about all of the steps involved when he has a big project for school?___2. Do you help your child make a plan to earn and save the money he needs to buy something

special?___3. Do you make sure your child does homework before relaxing with TV or playing games?___4. Will you make a plan with your child of things you want to do this summer?

___5. Do you help your child make a to-do list of the things he needs to complete every day?

ow well are you doing? Each yes means youre helping your child learn to think and plan ahead. For each no answer, try thaea in the quiz.

ROPELLERSo you wonder how to connect better with your children? Do you wonder what matters to them, and how you can assist them

o grow up to be healthy, caring and responsible citizens? I encourage you to try a "propeller" - a question intended to sparkonversations with your children. Try it around the dinner table tonight! This week's propeller: What actions are you takingow to make the world better in the future?
