    Join Us Tonight! Open House and Book FairPlease join us for our Open House tonight, Thursday, May 23, from 7:00-8:00 pm. Open House is an opportunity for your chilshare classroom projects and activities with you. Thank you in advance for keeping your children with you at all times as you vour classrooms. Please remember that the playground is not open for play during Open House, and skateboards, scooters anbicycles are not allowed on campus.

    Our Spring Book Fair will also be open from 5:30-7:30 tonight, in the GLC. Please come browse and buy books for all ages a great time to stock up on summer reading material! All profits from this event are used for the school library and to fund PTAschool activities. Thank you for supporting our school!

    Staff Learning DayThere is no school for children on Friday, May 24, 2013, as it is a Staff Learning Day.

    Memorial Day HolidayThere is no school on Monday, May 27. Enjoy the holiday!

    Parent SurveyA special "thank you" to our Gator families for participating in our 2012-2013 Parent Survey.We enjoyed a 72% response rate! Our staff will examine the data and identify next steps

    oward continued improvement. As promised in our previous Gatoraid, below the second halfof the data from the School Environment section of the survey:

    87% strongly agreed or agreed: I am aware of the Project Cornerstone Program at Garden Gate.67% strongly agreed or agreed: Project Cornerstone has helped my child solve problems in the classroom and on playground.82% strongly agreed or agreed: My family enjoys attending PTA/school events such as Fall Celebration and FamilScience Night.94% strongly agreed or agreed: Garden Gate encourages parent involvement.92% strongly agreed or agreed: My family supports the PTAs Direct Donation program, which pays for schoolassemblies, Spectra Art, the librarian and the primary music program.72% strongly agreed or agreed: My family supports the school by purchasing scrip and attending restaurantfundraisers on a regular basis.

    And, here is the data from the Curriculum section of the survey. Parents were asked to rate effectiveness in teachingchildren in the areas below:

    BEFORE YOU MAKE TRAVEL PLANSAt the end of the school year students must be inattendance on the last day of school, June 12, 2013 toretain their place on the roster for the 2013 - 2014 schoolyear. At the beginning of the school year, students mustbe in attendance on the first day of school, August 19,2013 or they will not retain their place on the roster.When you are making travel plans, please consider thepossible ramifications.     will be released only to a parent or guardian. Anymedications that remain after the close of school will bediscarded. If your student will need medication during theschool day for the next school year, a Medication

    Administration form must be completed. The form isavailable in the school office. Please note that in orderfor medications to be given, both the doctor and theparent must sign the form.
