Event Partners:

The Conference is being organized in cooperation with

Welcome

Dear colleagues, ladies and gentlemen:

Let me invite you to this year’s Gartner IT Leadership Trends Conference.

Our globalized civilization is moving very fast and information technology has greatly contributed to this fact.

Last year, we all – educational institutions, ICT vendors, ICT services providers and users – were facing many new challenges. We were witnessing growing demands for information security, for high availability of ICT services, and for efficient processing of big data. All that simultaneously with growing deployment of mobile technology and continuing lack of highly skilled IT experts. I believe that also this year, many new and helpful ideas from this Conference will inspire us and facilitate our daily and hard decision making.

Looking forward to meeting you at the Conference.

Pavel Tvrdík, Dean of the Faculty of IT, CTU in Prague

The convergence of the Nexus of IT Forces and the Internet of Things is creating the Digital Industrial Economy. Every business is becoming a technology business and every budget is in part an IT budget. The digital world needs digital-ready infrastructure, access to digitally-smart talent, digital innovation and much more. It’s the same for both the private and public sectors. 2014 is the year when IT leaders must begin this transformation. Doing so requires novel approaches and radical new thinking combined with unwavering attention to operational performance.

The Gartner IT Leadership Trends 2014 will give you the insight and advice you need to succeed in this challenge.

From IT Strategy to Digital Business StrategyJohn Mahoney, Vice President & Distinguished Analyst, Gartner

The growth of the digital industrial economy means that IT leaders must deliver even more reliable operational performance at the same time as they create digital innovation and develop digitally-smart talent. Every enterprise – public and private sector – needs to answer the question “How will we thrive in an increasingly digital world?”. We will help you find the critical actions you need for success in 2014 and beyond.

Delivering Digital – CIO Case Studies Dana Bérová, Business Development Director,

KPC-Group/Gartner

Case studies on digital enterprise presented by experienced CIOs. Is digital enterprise a reality? Chaired and moderated by Dana Bérová.

Panel Discussion with Industry LeadersDebra Logan, Vice President & Gartner Fellow, Gartner

John Mahoney, Vice President & Distinguished

Analyst, Gartner

Panel discussion with IT industry leaders moderated by Gartner Vice presidents Debra Logan and John Mahoney. What is the assessment of the local IT market when compared to other countries? Are local companies innovative and competitive? What is the mix of skills needed in business technology in the near future? What is the best practice to share with IT leaders today?

Five Myths of InnovationEd Gabrys, Research Director, Gartner

This session demystifies some of the longest lasting myths in innovation. It is aimed at IT leaders and innovation directors and includes a mix of foundational and advanced content so there’s something for everyone to learn.

Big Data Strategy Essentials for IT and BusinessDebra Logan, Vice President & Gartner Fellow, Gartner

A heightened interest in big data, coupled with a limited appreciation of its range challenges, creates an information strategy gap that introduces tremendous risk for enterprises. This session details a dozen key strategy components.

Talent on the Digital FrontierJohn Mahoney, Vice President & Distinguished Analyst, Gartner

Nearly 50% of participants in a Gartner Research Circle survey expect the knowledge, skills and competencies of digital business to be spread around their companies by 2015; only about 15% expect them to be concentrated in IT. Which knowledge and skills will be needed? What’s different in this new domain? How can you learn from early adopters and leading-edge businesses to gain a competitive edge?

Transform Your Security Program: From Control-Centric to People-CentricAnt Allan, Research Vice President, Gartner

The traditional ‘control’ mindset of information security cannot keep pace with technological and behavioural change, resulting in policies and technologies that cause frustration and impede agility. A new approach is required, one that recognizes how the relationships between IT, the business and individuals have been transformed irrevocably.

Collaborative Decision Making: We Are Smarter Than MeDebra Logan, Vice President & Gartner Fellow, Gartner

Collaboration and social capabilities are converging with BI and analytics to optimize both strategic and tactical decisions. At the same time, advanced analytics, rules engines and event processing are converging to optimize operational decisions. This presentation will explore how these technologies can significantly improve the effectiveness of business decision making.

Preparing for the Future: The New Mission for Your Office of the CIOEd Gabrys, Research Director, Gartner

As CIOs prepare the enterprise for life in the First Digital Decade, traditional Office of the CIO functions such as strategy, governance, IT performance management, and strategic supplier management play an increasingly vital role. But the way these functions are organized and managed will change and CIOs must be proactive in driving this change. How is the Office of the CIO evolving and how will this impact the role of the CIO?

Top 10 Trends and Their Impact on IT Infrastructure and OperationsAnt Allan, Research Vice President, Gartner

The focus of this session is to help IT leaders think outside of their day to day issues and understand the outside forces are happening in IT. It will help you discover their potential impact on IT and your day to day operations. These impacts include technology, budget and organizational, and will often be dramatic.
