Who are we?

The foundation was created to raise funds for childrenʼs charities using a dynamic event: a Corporate Sports Benefit Tournament. This event promotes a fun team-building way, to engage everyone in a energetic atmosphere, while raising funds to support children charities.

Our Achievements

Since 2001, over a million dollars has be raised from both corporate and individual communities.

Mission, Vision & Objective of the Games For Hope Foundation

The Games for Hope Foundation is 100% volunteer-based, non-profit organization, whose mandate is to raise funds through various means, mainly using the annual Corporate Sport Benefit Tournament. All Funds raised are allocated to the pre-selected childrenʼs charities.

During the course of the year leading up to the event day, we help raise awareness of the charities that have been selected from the Montreal community, so that support for research can lead to better treatment and prognosis of childrenʼs illnesses.

As we progress each year, we are striving to be recognized as one of the key organiza-tions within the Canadian philanthropic community.

Our intentions• Using the platform of a sports tournament to fundraise and bring about awareness for children charities, while encouraging team building.

• Current sport selection for the 2014 event day include:

• The net proceeds, our target 80%, from these fundraising activities shall be allocated to the pre-selected childrenʼs charities for 2014. This year three exceptional charities selected are:

• Raising awareness is equally important to us as raising funds within the Montreal community.• Encouraging and supporting leading research in all areas for better treatment and prognosis of childrenʼs illnesses.• Act as liaison by helping to refer families with sick children to a charity that can help alleviate and improve the childʼs situation or illness.• Assist in recruiting volunteers to work with charities

The Starlight ChildrenʼsFoundation Quebec is an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and their fami-lies. The Foundation provides an impressive menu of both in-hospi-tal and outpatient programs and services. A leader in delivering distractive entertainment thera-pies, over 12,000 Canadian children benefit from Starlightʼs programs each month, and over 5,000 Quebec children a month are touched by Starlight. They provide wonderful programs and services to all of the childrenʼs hospitals in the Montreal area (Montreal Childrenʼs, St-Justine, Shrinerʼs, etc.). These include Nintendo Wii Game Units, Pet Therapy, Clown Therapy, Mad Science shows and many other services just to mention a few of the numerous programs they offer.

Shriners Hospital for Children – CanadaIs a network of 22 facilities located throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The Montreal hospital is the only Shriners Hospital for Chil-dren in Canada and offers ultra-specialized care and treat-ment for complex conditions, like osteogenesis imperfecta (a brittle bone disease), severe anomalies in limbs and the spinal cord, recon-structive surgery and rehabilita-tion to children from across the country.

The Shriner's are committed to offering their patients the highest degree of care in a family atmo-sphere. They are widely recog-nized for their efforts, time and energy to better serve the interest of furthering research, care and education.

The Missing Childrenʼs NetworkSince 1985, the Missing Childrenʼs Network has worked with thou-sands of families of missing children who struggle each day with their unexplainable loss. Although we may never fully understand the depth of the anguish experienced by these families, we are all sensitive to the nightmare that they live. "Your child is missing!” Is a phrase that frightens us all and one that no one is ever prepared to for? These families need our help and togeth-er we can make a real difference in their lives.

SPORTS TOURNAMENT DETAILS

Your team has three choices of entering into one of two divisions:

Only teams with fully paid registration fees and completed registration and waiver forms will be eligible to select time slots. Time slots for the various sports and sub-tournaments will be offered on a first-come first served basis.

In order to reach the event goal of $350,000, we are strongly encouraging each team to raise a minimum of $2,500 or $300+ per player based on 8 players per team.

In addition to individual fundraising, using the electronic fundraising software, company donations and/or sponsorships and proceeds from team fundraising activities (i.e. bake sale…etc.) can be included in the team goal of $2,500.

Each team must register 8 players. HOWEVER, an UNLIMITED NUMBER OF NON-PLAYING MEMBERS CAN BE ADDED to assist with reaching the team fundraising target of $2,500.

Note to Teams:

• Raising less than $2,500 but greater than $1,250 will automatically lose one of their games by default.• Raising less than $ 1,250 will automatically lose 2 of their games by default and will not have their team photo taken (which means no team poster and individual team photo cards as well)• Raising over $4,000 will be provided with some wonderful prizes

*Donations of $10 or more are eligible for tax receipts for the Starlight Foundation, Shriners Hospital for Children Canada, and the Missing Childrenʼs Network. Corporate sponsorships, supplier donations and sport registration fees are not eligible for tax receipts. Note: In order to be eligible for an official tax receipt, anything of value (ie. advertising, sponsorship benefits, etc.) must not be received in return for a financial contribution.
