March 14 th , 7-10 p.m. (No fee to attend) President's Message: The Kanapaha Spring Garden Festival is this month. We’ll be doing some planning for that at this Saturday’s meeting. Please help out as much as you can. Also, we will be discussing the Ted Matson workshop from the previous night. I certainly hope you can make it to the workshop as well as the regular meeting. A thank you goes to John King for leading the February meeting, and also the March meeting, since I will be driving Ted Matson to his next engagement that morning. Remember, the workshop on Friday night will be held at: UF Community Room 2006 NE Waldo Road (west side of Waldo Road – parking available in back of building) Gainesville There is still some room in the workshop, so call Jerry as soon as possible to let him know if you are planning to bring a tree (219-2343). Come and observe, even if you don’t bring a tree. The regular meeting on Saturday will be held at Kanapaha as usual. See you Friday night/Saturday! Meeting notes from February’s meeting – Freida Sessions for Brian Rybak John King called the meeting to order in Jerry’s absence. Lucy reported there is $9300 in the treasury after paying Kanapaha dues of $600. The Secretary’s report from the February meeting was accepted as reported. There are two workshops scheduled – Ted Matson on March 14 th , 7-10 p.m., and Michael Hagedorn on April 5 th , 2–5 p.m., both at UF’s Community Room at 2006 NE Waldo Road in Gainesville. The workshops are included as a perk of membership. Ted Matson, who is from California, will be doing a “scar repair” workshop. There will be room for paid members to bring a tree for scar repair or plain styling. Members wishing to participate will need to let Jerry know. All others are welcome to observe and learn a lot. Michael Hagedorn is an internationally recognized stylist from Oregon who was trained in Japan. Kanapaha Spring Festival – March 29 – 30 th . Our club will have a booth as we do every year. Barbara is lending the club tables and bamboo siding. A formal demo will be scheduled in the front of the booth and less formal in the back where people can watch and ask questions. We will continue planning for this event at the March 15 th meeting. Today’s Program – Work was done on the club’s Trident Maple that Ben Oki started styling for us last year - it was repotted into another training pot. We also worked on the club’s Yaupon Holly – root trimming and repotting.
