At the assembly of the AnglicanParishes of the Central Interior on Satur-day in Valemount, Bishop Barbara An-drews invited Anglicans from across theCentral Interior to join the ongoing FirstNations-lead protests against biosolidsdumping in the Nicola Valley.
the group’s Indigenous Council —represented by rev. danny Whiteheadand Heather Shuter — called upon theassembly to “reaffirm its commitment tothe preservation of all of God’s creationand acknowledge the example set by ourFirst Nation brothers and sisters to pro-tect the water, land, and other natural re-sources” and “support…the currentefforts by members of our faith commu-nities and their neighbours to protect theNicola Valley from toxic waste.”
Meanwhile, today BioCentral willmeet with members of Friends of theNicola Valley. Over the weekend, the fire& protest was moved to Springs, just be-fore the Mammette Lake turnoff.

William (Bill) Palagain
December 23, 1924 - April 29, 2015William (Bill) Palagain, long time res-
ident of Merritt, BC, passed away peace-fully on April 29, 2015 at the age of 90.
Bill was born on december 23, 1924, inEndeavour, SK, to Mike & dora Palaghian.
Bill served in World War II and oncedischarged made his way to Merritt. Heworked for many years with PooleyBrothers Construction. Bill was heavilyinvolved in the community, doing volun-teer work for the royal Canadian Legionand the Merritt Seniors. He worked withthe Merritt Centennials hockey team inthe early years and rarely missed a game.
Bill enjoyed travelling, going to russiafor the Canada-russia hockey series in1974, trips to Australia and New Zealand,England and Scotland. Bill and Margtravelled all over Canada in their variouscampers and belonged to the Good Sams.
Bill is survived by his wife, MargaretAnn (nee Cline); his son, Bill, wife Kathy(nee Stewart), and grandsons, Morgan andLincoln of St. Albert, AB; daughter Sharon,partner Jeff uber, of Burnaby, BC; anddaughter delores, husband dan Flundra,and grandchildren dwight and Alyssa ofFort St. John. He is also survived by hisbrother ted Palagian of Canora, SK; andsisters Agnes Clemetson of Quesnel; andVera Zillman of Calgary, AB; many niecesand nephews. Predeceased by his brotherNick Palagian of Campbell river, BC; andsisters Helen Melnychuk of Quesnel, BC;Mary Egesz of Winnipeg, MB; and Mar-garet roller of Los Angeles, CA.
