erasmus+Erasmus+ is issued by the European Commission. As from January 2014 it is replacing the old Youth in Action program. Divided in three key actions, it hosts a number of initiatives that concern European cooperation. If you have any interna-tional plans, you will be pleased to hear that every former international formula of Youth in Action is still available in the current Erasmus+ program. Since Erasmus+ can be considered as a Youth in Action upgrade, EVS, Youth Initiatives, and Youth Exchanges are maintained and even extended. All these and some other features are part of the first key action “Mobility”, in which Funkibator is mostly involved As before Funkibator will continue facilitating support in these projects. Worth noting is that Erasmus+ offers more extended possibilities for candidates with special needs than Youth in Action did.

VolunteerIf you are interested in other cultures, fascinated by intercultural interaction or just curious, then don’t hesitate to take part in the EVS-initiative. EVS is open for all ages between 18 and 30, and regardless level of schooling or nationality. In a very diverse field of subjects there is always some interest-ing project to find. Multilingual dia-logues, cultural shocks, international lectures, discussions and international working experience, it is all part of this one-time deal. It might feel like a jump in the dark but it is one worth taking. Funkibator can support your project as a sending or hosting organization.

international exchangesOne of the activities of Erasmus+ is providing funds to organize interna-tional exchanges. Those exchanges can be between two or more coun-tries. The choice of possible themes is diverse. Last summer Funkibator organized a Swedish-Belgian ex-change about accessible media. In the summer of 2014 Funkibator will take part in the second half of this partnership, a Belgian-Swedish ex-change.

Having discussions with people from other coun-tries is a challenge. Different backgrounds and a language that is not ones mother tongue can turn a conversation into an interesting lesson about society. Getting to know a country and meet-ing interesting people, that is what exchanges are about. Funkibator can help with that.

international networkFunkibator is continuously looking to extend its inter-national network, because we think it is interesting to take part in international initiatives for youth with a dis-ability. Participating in developing the work of disability groups can be accomplished by smaller initiatives, but why not share this internationally? Spreading newslet-ters and informing people about our existence interna-tionally is part of what we do, because it could help us in building international partnerships.

DiederikVolunteer from Belgium. Since August 2013 he’s part of the Funkibator international team.

SuzyWas a Hungarian EVS-volunteer for Funkibator from February 2012 to January 2013.

The main purposes of the former program are still the cornerstone for Erasmus+, but enhancing study-and training opportunities in a unified European frame is added to that list. It also values the non-intentional learn-ing. All of these projects mainly intend to increase European awareness.
