For these blessings and even more we say, “THANK YOU FATHER, THANK YOU FATHER; YOU ARE TRULY AN AWESOME GOD”! Another song that comes to mind about being thankful is Thank You, Lord. The first verse says this:

Thank You, Lord, for loving me. Thank You, Lord, for blessing me.

Thank You, Lord, for making me whole. And saving my soul.

A simple song with a simple melody, but very powerful message; may we ever be thankful for what God has done for us, especially spiritually speaking. We, as your shepherds, are very thankful for each and eve-

ry member at Central. Thank you for all the work you do

for our congregation and for our community. We thank

you for all your love and support. We love each one of

you and want each one to go to heaven. We pray that we

all have a blessed November and that we strive to live for

Him and thank Him for all He has done for us. Count your

many blessings, name them one by one.

The month of November is a wonderful month. It is a month that has a theme of being thankful. November is also a month that provides more time than usual to focus on our families. There is just something special about that long Thanksgiving weekend. We all anticipate heading to a relative’s home or hosting the whole family in our own home for wonderful food and fellowship. Many wonderful memories are made at this time of the year. Our country is very blessed in its resources. Sometimes it is easy to get used to the things we have, and maybe even forget to be thankful for the blessings God has bestowed upon us. The holiday of Thanksgiving provides a wonderful opportunity to be thankful for all of our blessings. One thing families might sometimes do after the big thanksgiving meal is go around the room and let each person tell what they are thankful for. It’s a great time to see a little piece of everyone’s heart and what they deem important. In regards to being thankful, a song comes to mind entitled, “Give Thanks”. The song is taken directly from Psalms 107:1 which reads, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!” (ESV) Our Father in heaven has not only blessed us with physical blessings, but also every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:3). He has adopted us, redeemed us, forgiven us,

Gail Brown– underwent exploratory surgery on the 21st after treatments were unsuccessful in shrinking the tumor

Mike Brandon’s mother, Peggy Elliott, is moving back to Texas but is having a hard time adjusting since her husband passed away and is need of prayers and encouragement.

Tom Hester, Dale’s father- underwent surgery for a broken hip on the 21st and is now at Bradley Healthcare

Norma Kendrick’s cousin, Francis Hoffman, has been diagnosed with lung cancer. He and his wife, Celia, have only been married 2 years. Please keep them in your daily prayers.

Prayer List

Rejoice!

Every morning I happily walk my kids into Arnold Elementary school and drop them off for a day of learning. Learning from teachers about different subjects and learning about the world in which we live. But what makes me so happy to do this is because most days I meet a teacher in the hallway that reminds me how polite my kids are and the great attitude they have. Their teachers brag on them telling me that they are great students and they are an example to other students. I don’t say this to just simply brag on my kids (although what good parent wouldn’t want to), I tell you this because it brings absolute joy to mine and Angela’s hearts. First it reminds me that we are striving to be the good parents God wants us to be. Being a parent is hard, however, I believe being a parent in the 21st Century is even harder. It is challenging to make sure our kids are physically safe and more importantly, spiritually safe. I will admit An-gela and I worry about sending our kids out into the world every day. It worries us because we know at some point they will hear bad language, dirty jokes, they will see unfair kids, they might be made fun of or worse and they might be doing these things themselves. We know every day when they arrive at school there is this risk, and we are willing to take it. We are willing to do this because we have confidence in the power of God. We know that if we do our part as Parents, then God will do His part as our Heavenly Father. School life can be difficult for our kids but, let us all have faith that God is stronger. This also brings joy to our hearts because our kids are being what God commanded us all to be, the Light. In Mat-thew 5, Jesus is near the beginning of his sermon when he charged his disciples to be different than the world. He said in verse 14, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Sure, we could shield our kids, cover them up so nothing ever bad happens to them, but if we did this, how would their light ever shine? Who would their example help? It doesn’t matter if you’re at the elementary school or at the store, we see that the world can be a dark place because of sin. But we as disciples of Jesus don’t have to be in the dark, we can be the light in the dark. Friends, no matter our age or place in life we all have the opportunity to be the light. We all have the opportunity to be the example of Christ. Let me tell you, my boys are not perfect. But as their dad, I am proud of them for being different, for setting the example, for being positive, for being the light. Let me encourage you and remind you the world is sinful and sometimes very influential, but know that God is stronger than the power of sin. Put your faith in God and go out and be the light!
