The Bible is the only book where the Author is in love with the Reader During the May 10th Sunday School, our youth leader Radah Brown present a Holy Bible to our high school graduates, Christena Fryman and Trenton Price. Keep both of these young people in your prayers as they go forth into a wicked world. May 3rd was the last night of our Spring Revival. God blessed us with

another great revival again this year. Although the attendance was down

from last year the preaching, singing, testimonies and fellowship were all

good. Pray that we can do it again next year. Pictured are items found in

our church after the revival. A double loop earring was found on the floor at

the left side of the altar. A set of eye glasses in a case was found in the

center section of pews approximately four rows back from the front. If you

are missing either of these items they can be picked up at Gene Vogler's

Barber Shop in West Union.

The Youth Rally Olympics were held at Northwest High School on Friday

evening, May 8th. We are proud to report that our Primary Team won first

place in their age division in the Bible Sword Drills. Pictured with the trophy

are from left to right Karlee Lawson, Lauren Hoop and Isabella Dettwiller

and their leader and coach, Marjorie Swearingen. Our Senior Team placed

second in their age division in the Bible Sword Drills. Congratulations to

Marjorie and both teams. We are proud of them.

We celebrated Mother's Day on May 10th. Each lady in the congregation

received a potted geranium. Cheryl Newman read a thank you note from

the Adams County Crisis Pregancy Center for the money we collected in

their Baby Bottle Drive. The total our church collected was $383.85.

Saturday, May 16th, was Clean Up Day here at the church. We want to

thank all of the ones who came and worked so hard.

Congratulations to Russell and Kay Gaffin who celebrated their 50th

wedding anniversary on May 23rd. There was an Open House celebration

with family and friends in the Felllowship Hall on that day from 2:00 to 4:30

in the afternoon.

We honored the veterans during our morning worship service on

Sunday, May 24th. Those present in our congregation who served their

country were Clark Calvert, Charles Harmon, Jr., Corbett Phipps, Wendy

Swearingen, Randy Thomas and Eugene Vogler. Corbett Phipps provided

us with some information and facts regarding the number of people who

severed our country during the major wars, the number of casualties and the

number of those injured. It was overwhelming and brought tears to our eyes

and made us realize that we could never thank them enough. At the end of

the service we had a couple go to the altar and give their hearts to the Lord.

It was a good day. Remember them in your prayers.

Beth Dettwiller hosted our second annual Ladies Tea in the Fellowship

Hall on Saturday afternoon, May 30th. The room was beautifully decorated

and the food was delicious. Some of the ladies wore hats. Cheryl Newman

prepared a little skit for us to enjoy. We had a good time and want to thank

Beth for making it possible.

Our church has a new look on the inside. We have new padded

seats, new carpet throughout the church, the altar was stripped and

refinished, new lights, the secretary desk was stripped and

refinished, new seat covers on the pulpit chairs and a new pulpit has

been ordered. Our church is beautiful inside. This was

accomplished through the generosity of our congregation and

memorials. Our prayers and blessings to everyone who made this

possible.

Emily Jo McClanahan graduated from High School this year and

was presented a Bible. Our prayers are with her through her future.

The Kings Daughters class will be meeting at the church on June 4th

at 1:00 pm.

June 14th is Flag Day and we will fly our flags proudly.

Father's Day is June 21st. We wish every Father a blessed and

happy day.

On our prayer list we are praying for the many who have medical

problems, the ones who have lost loved ones, our men and women

who are in the armed forces fighting for our freedom and our Pastor.

Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

PRAYER REQUESTS: Shirley Hall, Rachel McCarty Hewgill, Janet Ralston, Tom Tolle

As I stop and think on Father’s Day, my heart is filled with praise. I know the Lord has blessed me in so many different ways. I could not count the blessings if I lived a hundred years, But I’d like to mention one of them, and I mention it with tears. It’s the blessing of a father, a good and honest Dad, A man who never failed me, when I was just a lad. My Dad is not a hero, to anyone but me. His name has not been written for all the world to see. But in the most important way, he really did succeed; And as I grew from day to day, he met my every need. The reason for his greatness, with you today I share— Every time I needed him, My Dad was always there. ---Max Sidders---

Hills Chapel

This month as been another busy one for Hills Chapel. We have been preparing for Vacation Bible School, our remodel project, and working at Mt. Hope. Combine that with our regular church events and life and you have a pretty busy schedule.

We held a Youth Sunday on May 3rd. We were blessed to have Scott Brafford, to speak. Scott does an amazing job bringing the message through puppets and dynamic story telling. I am not for sure who enjoyed it the most, the 30+ youth we had or the adults.

Hills Chapel sponsored a Graduation celebration service this past month. We served the graduates and their families an early breakfast before our Sunday morning service and graduation. We had several who attended. The food was awesome and we would like to thank each person who worked to make that morning a success.

We also accepted the membership of Matt Lawson and Gary Richard. Both Matt and Gary have been attending our church with their families since the fall of last year. We are thankful to have them as part of our family. It is exciting to see new people join and become active in our church family.

VBS was a blast this year. We averaged more

than 50 kids and over 35 adults each night. It

was awesome to see the excitement in sing-

ing, recreation and learning the Word of God.

Many seeds were sown and our church family

is looking forward to see those seeds grow

and bear fruit.

The Hills Chapel family would

like to thank each person who

made this year’s Bible School

a success. Whether it was do-

nating items for crafts and

snacks, teaching, singing, rec-

reation, doing crafts or

snacks, decorating, cleaning

up, or just bringing kids, we

appreciate you!
