FROM THE SCHOOL ON A HILL

The school with a BIG-HEART, and a little less hair, has raised the enormous sum of $803 for the Leukemia

Foundation after several fundraisers, including last Friday’s Funky Hair Day. Staff member, Christie Gavel

who shaved down, with son, Jack, for the entertainment of the school assembly, has raised over $3000 for

Team Rumble. A sensational effort by Christie, Jack and the North community!! For news of how the purple

mermaid (Mrs Rumble) is faring in her fight with leukemia, see over the page!

Mrs Rumble Making Strong Progress

It’s great to be able to relate that Mrs Rumble is

fighting the good fight; and although she is far from

fit and well, she is pleasing the doctors with her

progress.

She is very proud of the fund-raising efforts of our

students and community, and can’t wait to escape

from the clutches of a hospital ward and return to

fair Deni.

With husband, David by her side she remains in good

cheer and is very upbeat.

All going to plan, she should be home within the next

few months.

competed last Wednesday at

Memorial Park, and although they were not

amongst the medals, a fine time was had by

all.

handball and the odd mark, Josie, the

kangaroo, even managed to find time to hop

SOMETHING in the BIN Mr Hogan went to the bin to put rubbish in it.

He heard a crash and a bang coming from inside the

bin.

Mr Hogan stood still and stared at the bin.

All of a sudden something jumped out of the bin. All

of the rubbish went into the air. It fell on top of Mr

Hogan. He tried to pull all the rubbish off, but he

couldn’t. The rubbish was stuck to him. It was smelly

and it got in his eyes. Mr Hogan couldn’t see.

Something bit him on the nose. It was a ginormous,

hairy, blue monster.

Brydey, Amy, Mitchell, Tynen and Riley ran to their

classroom and got a net. Riley threw the net at the

monster. The monster got away. Tynen got a big

bucket and dropped it on the monster. The monster

was trapped.

Brydey helped pull all the rubbish off Mr Hogan. Mr

Hogan could now see. He saw a monster with a

bucket on its head. He got scared and he ran away.

The kids were brave. They picked up the monster.

They took it to the tar pit.

Mitchell had a machine at the tar pit. The machine

had a wheel and a giant bucket. Mitchell, Amy and

Riley turned the wheel. The tar fell on the monster,

and it was never seen again.

Great ideas by Brydey Maher, Amy Doherty,

Mitchell Avis, Tynen Rothe and Riley Walker

MR HOGAN and the GIANT MONSTER Mr Hogan went to the bin to eat the rubbish. He was

hungry and he wanted some food.

He heard a crunching noise. “Wooooh!”

Mr Hogan got scared. He ran away.

A green, stripy monster jumped out of the bin. The

monster ran after Mr Hogan. It chased him through

the school. It chased him through the forest. It

chased him into the river.

Alyssa, Kyle, Indi and Kyah ran to the river because

Kyah heard a big splash. The monster chased Alyssa.

The monster chased Indi.

The monster was so giant it could pick trees up. The

monster pulled a massive tree out of the ground. It

threw the tree into the water. The boys and girls

used the tree as a bridge. Indi, Alyssa, Kyle and

Kyah ran over the bridge. Alyssa helped Mr Hogan

out of the water.

The kids quickly made a net and caught the monster.

They dragged the monster back to the bin. They

buried the monster in the bin.

The kids had saved the day.

Ideas by Alyssa Hawley, Kyle Orr, Indi Moore

and Kyah Watson

MR HOGAN and the TIGER Mr Hogan went to the bin to put his junk in. He

started putting the junk into the bin and he heard a

scratching sound. He thought it was a possum.

Mr Hogan banged on the bin. Suddenly a tiger

jumped out of the bin. The tiger chased Mr Hogan.

He was scared.

The tiger chased him through the forest. It chased

him to the river.

Lucky for Mr Hogan, tigers don’t like water, so Mr

Hogan jumped into the water. He started to swim.

He sank under the water. He saw a shark and an

octopus. He saw a submarine. He hopped in the

submarine. The octopus climbed onto the submarine

and it ripped the submarine apart. Mr Hogan got into

a diver’s suit and he got away. He got out of the

water. He ran back to the bin and the tiger chased

him. Mr Hogan jumped into the bin. The tiger ran

away.

One spooky Halloween night, I knocked on the door.

I found a note, it said,” never go to next door,

because the demons, werewolves and Dracula are

there.”

I said,” that can’t be real!” So, I went next door.

I knocked on the door. A big ghost answered the

door. I screamed and dropped my candy. I picked it

up, but before I knew it, the door slammed shut, and

I was stuck in the house.

On my way up the squeaky stairs a skeleton started

a party in Stephen’s house.

Stephen really quickly and he landed on his belly.

One day, there was a boy named Gary, who loved ice

cream. His mum gave him blobs of ice cream for

lunch.

One boring day, Gary visited his grandmother, to

stay for a week. He started exploring in his

grandma’s house.

All of a sudden, he found a strange door that he had

never seen before.

“Booo!” said grandma.

Gary turned around and saw her. “Can I open this

door?” said Gary.

“No!!” replied grandma.

“Why not?” asked Gary.

“Because, there is something behind the door that

you like, but it tastes bad.”

Gary didn’t listen, so he opened the door.

He saw nothing at all. He went inside and saw…. A

BIG BLOB OF ICE CREAM!!

Gary walked closer and closer, and tapped the blob

of ice cream. It started chasing Gary.

Gary ran past a lot of heaters that were all turned

on. The more he ran past the heaters, the more the

ice cream melted. Then, the ice cream was gone….

One day, a reporter was knocking at my door. I

opened it, and he introduced himself. He said his

name was James Blease, a reporter from the

Melbourne news.

He said to me, ”have you seen anything strange?”

“I haven’t seen anything,” I said.

Then, he walked off and I started setting up a pool.

When I was done, I put the pool outside. I got the

hose and sprayed it with some water…

One day, I came home from school and I opened my

door, and there was a chicken in my room.

As soon as I walked into my room, the chicken ran

out and sat down and laid an egg. I followed it into

had to pick it up with a tissue, and put it in the bin.

Then, I had to get rid of the chicken.

Phil was coming home from work, and he saw that the

door was locked. His wife, Sophie opened the loud

door. It made a very creaky noise. Phil slowly walked

inside to a dark room. He felt like someone was

watching him. “SURPRISE! Happy birthday Phil!” The

people shouted.

Standing in the middle of the room was Phil’s big

birthday cake. The cake was as big as a hotel room,

with all the colours of the rainbow. There was green

icing with sprinkles on top, and strawberries all

around the layers…..

A person came up behind me in a green suit and said,”

you’re in the wrong place kid-you’re in the middle of

a war-now get down!”

He grabbed me and pulled me to the ground. So,

that’s what all the bodies on the ground were for, I

thought. Instead of being in history, I am history!

After that, luckily I made it to their base-MASH

4007.

When we got there the person in the green suit

said,” where’s your home?”

I replied, ”Australia-Deniliquin, Old Morago Road.”

“Australia!” He said. “Where is Australia? I know

Then, I just remembered that I was in the past.

I said,” I mean Terra Nullius!”…….

Scenario 2: Bobby the bunny is dreaming of a

potions etc.

I love to help as much as I can….

He’s not just talented with the school’s new mower!

Groundsman, Dragos Marcu is also a dab hand with

a brush and paints.

Dragos, or Bob, as he has been nicknamed by

students, is currently displaying some of his surreal

artworks at the Peppin Centre.

Disclaimer: There is no truth to the rumour that

Dragos has derived his inspiration from tussling with

the school’s sprinklers.
