From The Principal’s Desk: Dear Families What a cold and windy week weve had so far this week. I hope our families werent too affected by the strong winds last night – thankfully there was no damage here at school. COVIDSAFE SCHOOL It has been so good being back at school this week, and I m pleased for our Melbourne schools that they can return to school tomorrow. However, with the latest easing of restrictions there are still COVIDSafe practices that we are expected to adhere to. What this means for our school is that: ONLY students and staff are permitted on-site until further advised. IF Parents/Carers/Visitors need to come onsite, we request you come via the main office. All visitors MUST sign in using the QR code or the office sign-in book (regardless of how long you are here for), wear a mask and only 3 people in the office/admin area at any one time. MASKS do not need to be worn outdoors (this includes at school drop off/pick up) unless you are not able to maintain a 1.5metre distance. If your child is unwell or has any of the listed COVID-19 symptoms (however mild) they must stay home – fever, chills/sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell or taste. Please organise with your child which gate you will be dropping off/picking up at, and keep it the same to avoid any confusion. You can also email your childs teacher to let them know and they will be able to support you and your child/children with this. Thank you for supporting your children and our school staff during this last fortnight. I am so proud of our School Community and how we are each doing our part to slow/ stop the spread of COVID-19. STUDENT LEADER BADGE ASSEMBLY – JUNE 16TH Next Wednesday we intended to have the Student Badge Presentation Assembly, with Maree Edwards MP to present the leaders with their badges. Unfortunately, due to the COVIDSafe restrictions only students and staff would be able to attend the assembly. In light of this, I have decided to postpone the assembly until next term so that parents and external visitors can attend. A new date will be advised early in Term 3. POSTPONED STUDENT FREE DAY Just a reminder that our proposed Student Free Day has now been postponed due to COVIDSafe restrictions. Next Tuesday (June 15) was the planned date, but as the training day can not go ahead it has been postponed until later in the year. As a result all students are expected to be at school instead next Tuesday. However, I hope everyone enjoys the Queens Birthday Long Weekend. 2021 Term Dates Term 2: April 19 June 25 Term 3: July 12 – September 17 Term 4: October 4 – December 17 Term 1 Dates To Remember 11th June Term 2 Uniform Orders Due 14th June Queens Birthday Public Holiday 15th June School Council Meeting—6:00pm 23rd June School Photo Day (Covid Restrictions Pending) 25th June Last Day Term 2 12th July First Day Term 3 Hot Lunches Roster Friday 11th June—Rae Whitehead Friday 18th June—Sally-Ann Campbell Friday 25th June—Kelly Stevens Please ensure you report to the office and sign in before going to the canteen.

COVIDSAFE SCHOOL

It has been so good being back at school this week, and I’m pleased for our Melbourne schools that they can return to school tomorrow. However, with the latest easing of restrictions there are still COVIDSafe practices that we are expected to adhere to. What this means for our school is that:

ONLY students and staff are permitted on-site until further advised.

You can also email your child’s teacher to let them know and they will be able to support you and your child/children with this. Thank you for supporting your children and our school staff during this last fortnight. I am so proud of our School Community and how we are each doing our part to slow/stop the spread of COVID-19.

Unfortunately, due to the COVIDSafe restrictions only students and staff would be able to attend the assembly. In light of this, I have decided to postpone the assembly until next term so that parents and external visitors can attend. A new date will be advised early in Term 3.

SCHOOL DISMISSAL

I am asking for parent suppport to remind students that at hometime they are expected to go directly to their pickup point and not play on the playground. To ensure the safety of all students, teachers on duty need to check that everyone has been safely collected by their parent/carer. If parents/carers choose to allow their child to play on the playground after school we just request that children wait until the rush has cleared and the parents are supervising. Thank you for you co-operation with this.

ENROLMENTS AT LOCKWOOD PS

Do you know anyone moving into our area that has a child attending pre-school, or who has not yet chosen a school? Please talk to them about our school and invite them to contact us to arrange a school tour. LPS has plenty to offer and we are very keen to share this with prospective families.

CURRENT NEWS / REMINDERS: FIONA LONG SERVICE LEAVE

As some of you may have heard, I am taking some long service leave for the last week of Term 2 and all of Term 3. Plans at this stage are sketchy because of Covid restrictions but I’m looking forward to getting out and seeing lots of this beautiful country that we live in. I will send out statements of fees owing to families (hopefully tomorrow). If anyone has any questions about fees (or anything school related) please call me next week with your queries so I can help you before I leave.

TERM 2 UNIFORM ORDER FORM

A reminder that our Term 2 uniform order is due back to the school office by TOMORROW! Please note that our Warm Up Jacket has been deleted from the form, this item has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Once a replacement is found, we will add it to our uniform order in Term 3. There are a few warm up jackets in stock (not all sizes), if parents would like to purchase one please contact Fiona to see if there is any available in the size you need. Unfortunately the jumpers from our order in Term 1 have still not arrived back at school. I have spoken to our supplier early this week and unfortunately they are waiting on a backorder of zips to finish the windcheaters. As soon as these orders arrive, they will be sent out to families. We again apologise for the delay, but it is out of our control.

SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING-TUESDAY 15TH JUNE

The next meeting of our school council will be held next Tuesday 15th June at 6:00pm via Webex. Meeting agenda and information will be sent to school councillors on Friday afternoon, along with login details for the meeting. Please contact Fiona if you are unable to make this meeting.

HEALTHY SNACKS CANTEEN MENU CHANGE:

Now that we’re heading into winter we are updating our menu for the Healthy Snacks canteen. Icy poles and frozen pineapple will have a rest and we will be introducing warm cups of soup. There are three different flavours of soup available : Pumpkin, Chicken Noodle and

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY—23RD JUNE

Our school photo day is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 23rd of June. At this stage, Department of Education Covid operational guidelines do not allow for school photos but we are hoping that they will relax next week and our school photos will take place as scheduled. To allow families enough time to budget and order if things do go ahead as planned, each child will be bringing home a school photo flyer today with their individual school photo ordering codes on the form. Please ensure that you keep this somewhere safe so that you can access your login details when placing an order. SchoolPix have assured us that if our school photo day has to be rescheduled, any orders placed will still be honoured once our photos have been taken. Please note that cash orders are no longer accepted and all orders must be placed online using the details listed on the flyer. If you wish to order a sibling photo, this order must be placed prior to 8:00am on Wednesday 23rd of June or these photos will not be taken. Please contact the school office if you have any queries in relation to school photos.
