All the fear, anxiety, cruelty and injustice that are injuringthe world today are caused due to the lack of spiritualeducation. Today, education is focused on cultivating

genius – education centred on how to learn instead of what tolearn. As a nation and as a planet, we must admit that educationis not just about learning how to read and write, but educationis the foundation for a good and fulfilling life, setting theindividual on a path of personal fulfilment, self-dignity, innersecurity and societal contribution.

Imagine, what will happen when we teach people how tofocus on the power of their mind? What will happen when weencourage them to foster their creativity for better solutionsrather than to wait for a problem to solve? What will happenwhen we teach them to meditate, i.e., to find a place of peacewithin themselves? What will happen when we make themconscious of the real self - ‘I’ – the embodiment of peace andpower? Where there’s love, where there’s peace, wherethere’s generosity, where there’s hope, there is no place forfear or hatred or anger or destruction. This is universally true.

With this aspect in mind, Prajapita Brahma KumarisIshwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya is a unique spiritual ‘university’,which is teaching spiritual education to lakhs of people fromdiverse backgrounds, castes, creeds or religions. This spiritualeducation is a life-long process, which helps one to attainperfection. This education is not for a few years, and its syllabiand courses do not end at a certain point of time, say afterfour or five years. In life, there is always scope forimprovement, further enrichment and deeper or more exaltedexperience. One can never say that one has learnt all andlearnt fully and has attained all the wisdom. Bharat is the most ancientnation with a 5000-yearold culture of divinity,

piety, faith, and devotion. Afterthe severe months of hotsummer, we are gifted with theonset of monsoon rains bringingdown the temperature forhuman comfort and experienceof ecstasy. We are able to seepeacocks dance around usagain; a variety of birds rejoicesby singing in their ownrespective tunes, while flyingfrom one side to anotherheralding the beauty of nature.During these four months,‘Chaturmas’ (July, August,September, October 2017),the devout especially ofHindu faith observe fasts,perform sacrifices andcharity, bath in holy watersto settle any wrongdoing ofthe past, and take topilgrimages, especially tofamous shrines or Lord ShivaTemples located in far distantplaces like Amarnath in theNorth. It is significant to notethat the period of Chaturmasis sacred even to thefollowers of Jainism andBuddhism.

The Amarnath Yatra hasbecome world famous wherepilgrims traverse hundreds ofkilometres by different means oftransportation or in GroupPilgrim Yatras. They feel sodelighted on being able to havea vision of the ice-Shiv Linga.The low temperatures ensurethat the ice does not melt,thereby maintaining the naturaldivinity and beauty of the ShivLinga, and constantly enchantingall the devotees. Perhaps theShiv Linga of ice, lovinglyknown as ‘Barfaani Baba’,symbolises the eternalexistence of the Supreme inthe form of pure light.

As per God’s promise, thewishes of devotees do getfulfilled because of their deepfaith and penance in havingtrekked long, ardous distances.However, whatever issymbolised on the path ofDevotion or Bhakti has specialsignificance. God does fulfil Hispromise of descending, andguiding humanity on the royalpath of Gyan and Yoga,popularly known as SahejRajyoga. It shouldn’t be out ofplace to know and learn how He

The month of July holds deepsignificance as we rememberone of Founding Members ofthe Brahma Kumaris SpiritualFamily: Didi Manmohiniji. Didjiwas a gifted daughter of theChanrai family fromHyderabad, Sindh. In the late1930s, it required tremendousamount of courage and faith torealise the reincarnation ofIncorporeal God Shiva, throughthe medium of Pitashri BrahmaBaba, and then surrender one’slife to His will for the serviceof humanity. Didiji’s mother,lovingly called ‘Queen Mother’,and her younger sister, DadiSheel Indraji, joined Didiji asfounding members of OmMandli.

Didiji was a great Meditator,who never missed herAmritvela Meditation andMorning Murli (Elevated GodlyVersions) being a verydedicated Godly Student. Her

Without saying ‘OmShanti’ three times,I cannot proceed.

These three Om Shanti giveanswer to these three questions:Who am I?, Who is mine? andWhy am I here? Baba has shedlight on these three things, andwe have had this experience inone second. Whatever thecondition of the body may be, thesoul is well. The Supreme Lordis pleased with an honest heart.When the children havecourage, the God Father helps.When your heart is clean,whatever thought you have willhappen. Baba has created mylife based on these three OmShanti. This is the easy yoga ofthree ‘Om Shanti’. There arealso just two things: I and myBaba. These two things havefreed us from all other types ofthinking. There is no problem inthe mind or in the body.Whatever has happened in myentire life was good. Whateveris happening is good. Whateveris to happen in future will alsobe good. Baba has taught mehow to create and live a life like

this. People of the world look atus to look into our life andunderstand what our study andsustenance are. For sustenance,there are the Mother and Father.This is both a study and apractice. He is the Teacher, theFriend and the Satguru. We canexperience these fiverelationships in our practical life.The Satguru gives us SupremeDirections (Shreemat); so, one’sown opinion (manmat) does notwork.

Once, Baba called me andasked me if I was singing thissong: “I have immense happinessby belonging to you.” Babaplayed this song and gave me thisexperience. I have allrelationships with one Baba asthe Mother, Father, Teacher,Satguru and Friend. I was ableto have all relationships withBaba, but would have a littledifficulty in the relationship withHim as the Friend. I placedBaba’s Shreemat on myforehead and, therefore, I amfree from manmat and other’sopinion (parmat). DidiManmohini told Baba about my

difficulty and since then, Babahas given me such goodexperiences of the Friend. Hehas taught us and sustained us.One time, seeing others, I tootook a notebook and pencil andstarted taking notes. Baba askedme, “What are you doing?” andsaid, “If you take notes, you willlose your power to listen”. Babaplaced us in His lap; and in orderto make us the beads of therosary, He also embraced us.

We are Baba’s children, andHe gives us so much love, so thatHe can give us the inheritance.The journey of our life and 84births are good because webelong to Baba. Anger will notallow you to have good relationswith each other. Greed meansthat you can accumulate manythings and will wonder where tokeep them in safety.

What is the essence of thestudy? My Baba. Drama is verygood. No need to rememberanything of the past. Let yourattitude and vision be that, whichis useful. At amritvela, I

continue to remember Baba’slove in my practical life. Wereceive unlimited happinessfrom the Mother and Father. Noone knows the fullness of theHighest-on-High Benefactor.Each one has his/her ownspeciality of giving cooperation,wisdom or of relating everythinghonestly to Baba. Let your heartbe with God, the Comforter ofHearts and the Ocean of Peace,Joy, Bliss, Truth, Love. It is agreat fortune to continue to giveyour cooperation.

Baba told us right in thebeginning about “What is thesoul?”. No matter how muchBhakti we had done, we didn’tknow what this soul is and thatI am a soul. The body is madeof the five elements and wascreated by the physical motherand father. But, now, my life isin my own hands and in God’shands (not in my laukik parent’shands). I belong to Baba. Babais mine. Baba is sweet and has

made us sweet. But, there is noextra sugar! Don’t have the kindof sweetness that others wouldwant to hang on to you. Wehave not come here to makeourselves famous or revealourselves. Do not allow thisthought or wish of revealingyourself, to come to you. Truth,humility, patience, depth andmaturity – let all these be naturalin you and, then, there will beno need to reveal yourself. Theamazing thing is that BrahmaBaba is teaching us even afterascending to the Subtle Worldand becoming subtle (avyakt).We had never heard of this indevotion. And our Baba is sowonderful! I say this from theheart: even if the body is nomore, everyone will continue toattain that which they areattaining. There is thisguarantee. The Iron Age isabout to end and the GoldenAge is about to come. We firsthave to go back to sweet home;

so, remember the home. Whatis our home? The knowledge ofthe drama is very sweet. It willenable you to become free fromthinking. From the time we cameto Shiva Baba, He told us, “Youare a soul, you are my child”.The soul has the mind, intellect,sansakars. The mind becomespeaceful in a practical way, andthe intellect is connected in yogato Baba in such a way that weexperience the joy of everyrelation with Him. Babadeveloped these sanskars in usin the last cycle and isdeveloping in this cycle too. Theheart gives thanks to Baba. Weare Karmayogis and Rajayogisand we use knowledge inmeditation (yoga) and haveinculcation (dharna) of divinevirtues. The code of conduct(maryadas) and principles,which we maintain daily,increase the beauty of ourBrahmin life.

ACCEPT LIFE AS IT ISAccepting ‘life as it is’ a multi-faceted concept. While it is good to accept circumstancesand people as they are, it would be unwise to act out of blind faith or dejection: Either wesay that things will happen if God or destiny wills it, or that things are never going toimprove; so, why should we bother at all? Both perceptions spread a negative vibration.Acceptance means that I don’t confront a situation or person simply becausethings are not to my liking, because this drains me of energy I could use to reform andsolve the problem. With a clear mind, open heart to the unexpected, andwillingness to make a difference, I link myself to God and take His energy to besuccessful in achieving my targeted goals.

When your faith in God Father reduces, your intoxication gets reduced.

The power of remaining in silence is the most elevated power.

It is comforting that ourgeneration has at leaststarted to ‘hear’ about the

movement for femaleemancipation from a host ofoppressive situations. We haveactually witnessed very moving,genuine acts of actuallyachieving it in some corners ofthe world. However, in acountry like India, which hasaround 6.42 million females (asof 2016), it has become quiteessential and important toempower girl children, femaleadolescents and women, whomay not presently be facingdifficult incidents, but arenonetheless affected by them byvirtue of the commonlydiscriminatory andmisogynistic vision, attitudeand behaviour they areexposed to from the relatives,elders and strangers. Thedeep-rooted, fatuous beliefs thatfemales are weaker, lessintelligent, more dependent, andnot as worthy or profitable asthe other gender can be seen:

in the vibrations andatmosphere surrounding a

pregnant mother;in the choices made for thegirl or boy child about howmuch they will study, and howmuch earnings they will bringto the table;when her school education iscurbed to support herbrother’s;when she does not have theprivilege of having decent (orany kind of) rest-rooms atschool like her maleclassmates;when it leads to theassumption that fair skin canredeem her somehow.Whitening-cream market wasworth $432m in 2010,according to a report bymarket researchersACNielsen!when it is obvious in thefearful way she questions theintention and gaze of males inher contact;when it is apparent in howpolicy-makers, the media andeven relatives often place theblame at the female victim’sdoorstep in any assault orconflict, since ‘she should

have known better’when it is in the way notmany comprehend that herpursuing a vocation is notmerely for money and status,but a means of enhancing herskills, challenging herself tohigher levels and finding apurpose in a greater cause;when it is blatantly seen in theway her advice and opinionsare vetoed by males becauseshe ‘couldn’t possibly knowabout worldly matters’;in the fact that even someillustrious companies andorganizations do not haveequal pay-scale for theirfemale and male employees,despite both holding the samequalifications and experience.It is this and that and so much

more. It is a slow, subtleconspiracy to dismantle thealready shaky self-respect, lovefor life and sense of freedom ofthe feminine. Perhaps, some ofus are even guilty of treatingourselves in the above ways, notonly others, so how can weblame just the misogynistic-minded beings of the world?!

Time is calling upon usto protect and sustain thefeminine power. Do notmisunderstand this to beexclusive to females, butrealize that every humanbeing, whether in a female ormale body, can own and wieldthis power to attain great

heights in life. Depletion anddisrespect of this power have ledto the disappearance of thevalues of compassion, toleranceand sanity in our world. It is hightime when we need to urgentlyrevive the Dignity of theFeminine.

As a teenager bonded to anamazing yet challenging third-world country, I learned earlyabout the disturbing business ofchild trafficking, of girls andwomen being forced into sexslavery. I heard with frustrationabout those being victimized forrefusing to enter a forcedmarriage or succumb to dowrydemands, or retaliating againstthe behaviour of the dominatingmale figure in her life, or forwanting to be educated, self-confident and just simply free tochart her own life. Each timetragedies of emotional,intellectual and physical assaulton females pound on ourtelevision screens, social mediaand own awareness, there is amyriad of emotions one goesthrough: ‘despair’, ‘fear’,‘anger’, ‘retaliation’,‘disheartenment’, etc. Theheart longs to comfort andsomehow help the victims andtheir families, of known andunknown tales, and somehowensure the millions of othergirls and women not to losehope in goodness, or faith in

their destiny. I thank myparents for good familyupbringing, teachers for the lovefor spirituality, and my rolemodels for training me tounderstand, face the aboveemotions, and not let them defeatme in any way.

I do not speak as a rebel, oran activist, or even as a survivorof abuse against the femaleidentity; I hail from the smallpercentage of girls and women,who are blessed to live a safeand progressive life. I only sharethe chart of some realizationsto encourage the more-privileged women, men andchildren to act as catalysts, inhelping to restore love, dignityand fulfilment in the less-privileged she-relatives, she-friends, she-seniors, she-juniors and she-members ofour global family.

To me, some of the mostenchanting qualities of thefeminine (and not exclusive tothe female population) are theability to love unconditionally, toshow tolerance, to understandothers, to impart wisdom and asense of righteousness, and tokeep faith through every storm.But, how ironic is it that each ofthese inner powers have beendiluted and convoluted overtime, so that they render theopposite impact today; they areno longer perceived as strengths

but weaknesses in a sense.Today, ‘love’ has become

possessiveness, dependency andgive-and-take; so, can there besuch a thing as real love?

We need to renew the voteof confidence in all positive andspiritual values, because thedarkness of ignorance is justthe absence of the light ofwisdom. While the presentscenes of life and conditions forwomen and girls are volatile, thebigger failure lies in not seeingthat the foundation is crumbling.The spirit of the feminine isbeing crushed, and, as aresult, we are seeing more andmore people refusing toacknowledge each other(female or male) as humanbeings with the same rightsand aspirations as themselves.We are all, in fact, suffering,irrespective of whether we arethe oppressors or victims.

Let us decide to keep in mindthat whatever I do will beobserved by others, and mirroredin their actions in the nearfuture. If we cannot put out thefire, let’s make sure we are notspilling extra fuel aroundunknowingly. While rallyingand working towards moreholistic parenting and educationalsystems, and balanced,accountable laws/policing, wecan surely empower ourselvesand those in our family, work andcommunity spheres, by livingwith a positive, pure and loving

All our conditioning saysthat it is something that happens to us. When one stands in thedoorway to eternity,he/she is scared of

death due to the entry tovastness and unknown world,because what lies within no onecan guess! It is all mystery;perhaps it seems like enteringinto the blackhole. The worldwithin must be filled with eternalthings. Eternity is endless timeand infinity is endlessspace!

Anything that has weight (w)has mass (m), according to thelaw: W = mg.

Anything that has mass isenergy! This is, again, accordingto Albert Einstein’s Law ofEnergy: E = mc2.

According to law ofconservation of energy: Energycan neither be created, nor bedestroyed.

It means energy has nobeginning (Anadi), no end(Anant); so, it is eternal!

As everything on this planethas mass, everything is eternalenergy. So, in essence, it maybe said: ‘Matter is eternal’.

Our physical body is made upof five elements of nature suchas earth, water, air, fire and

ether with the contributions ofour biological parents. Theseelements are either compound ora mixture; e.g., water is H2Oand air is the mixture of manygases. However, these elementsin their purest form are eternal,whereas the body made fromthese elements is not eternal.After the death, bodydecomposes and the elementsreturn to their parental form.Though the body is made up ofeternal elements, even then it isperishable. So, it is said about thebody “Jhooti Maya, JhootiKaya!”

The human body is a bigmachine, which also consists ofmany tiny machines within it. Nomachine can work withoutenergy. The energy, whichmakes this body-machinery tofunction, is known as Soul, Spirit,Ruh, Atma, etc. Being itself apoint of spiritual energy, the soulis eternal.

The soul does not belong tothis earthly planet; it is not aphysical energy like electricity,magnetic energy, etc. It is aspiritual or metaphysical energy,which can think and expressitself. The Supreme Soul is also

an eternal spiritual ormetaphysical energy.

Time and eternity are relativeterms. When the Earth takesone rotation around itself, theduration of time of this is calleda day. When it revolves aroundthe Sun and completes arevolution the span of distancecovered is called one year. So,the duration of time is equal tothe span of distance covered.Distance is, generally, measuredin miles or kilometres. But, inpractical life, we say Bombay toPoona is just four hours orLondon to New York is just 8hours. At the back of our mind,we know which vehicle we willuse to cover that distance.

The rays emitted by apowerful star from anothergalaxy can take years to reachour planet. The distancebetween that star and earth isexpressed in term of ‘lightyears’. So, again we alsocalculate the time in terms ofdistance covered. Suppose, thatSun (Star) is 10 light years away;this means that it takes 10 yearsfor its light to reach us. In casethat sun disappears from thatgalaxy by any reason, we willonly come to know after 10years! Though the Sun is notthere, we will still receive its lightfor 10 years! How funny!!

unfolding, time is running but we have no awareness of allthese. On getting up, sometimes we get confused about thestate our existence or time, asking such question as: “Wheream I? or Is it evening or dawn? Or Am I getting up fromday or night sleep? But, in case of a fetus in a mother’swomb, the consciousness of time does not exist. The fetusis more or less in a timeless state; whereas time does existfor the human beings in the outside world.

We sleep in cycles of 2 hours, plus or minus a few minutes.Mind goes on slowing down its various functions duringsleep. The rate of thinking also goes on reducing. Accordingto the states of sleep, the states of mind are also defined.This definition starts from Beta state, through Alpha, Thetato Delta state. In the state of deep and sound sleep, themind is in delta state and in as good as a thoughtless state.Here, the distance between two emerging thoughts is nearlyentire delta state, say, 20 minutes approximately. So, ourthoughtless state almost takes us to a timeless state in whichwe are completely oblivious of time. Is there any worldwhich is timeless with thoughtless beings? Yes, that is theSoul World – our sweet silence Home.

After purification of the impure Soul, God, the Father,Purifier and Guide, takes all the purified souls on returnjourney back to their ‘Sweet Silence Home’ in the meta-physical world. Once arrived there, they get set in theirspecific section and just go into thoughtless state. As theyare not thinking (Nirsankalp State), not speaking (NishabdhState) and not performing any act (motionless), the qualityof peace in the World of Peace (Shanti Dham, NirvanDham) is “Absolute Stillness”. This is the timeless Worldof Souls – the thoughtless beings. This metaphysical Worldof Souls is called the sixth element of light. There theresidents are living flames, jyotir bindu, living stars in agolden red metaphysical sky. Every soul is pure and silent,so the atmosphere there is also of purity and silence.Anyway, it is God’s and His spiritual children’s Abode above.

Just imagine, visualize this metaphysical scene and enjoythe immense happiness and joy. You are one of the sparkling,dazzling bright stars in the golden-red metaphysical sky. Youare the decoration of your Father’s sweet silent home! Yea!You are the “Twinkle, twinkle little star!”

Overcoming Frustrationin Relationships

There are two things in life that wecan never change: the past and otherpeople. These often brings us onefrustration after the other, especiallywhen we do not get the results thatwe want. Frustration is a sign of failure,and every time that you fail in gettingwhat you want from the other, yourself-esteem and self-confidence arereduced.

Frustration is also a form of anger.You allow the negative emotion tocontrol you; therefore, you losecontrol. Most times, situations willneither be as you want them to beand nor will people behave as you wantthem to. Therefore, you can decidenow whether you want to continueallowing the other to dictate yourreactions according to how theybehave, which results in the loss ofyour rule, control and personal power,or you can decide that no matter howthe other behaves, you rule over yourresponses; you decide what you wantto think and feel.

When another tries to control youand then gets frustrated because youdon’t do what he or she wants or youaren’t who he or she expects you tobe, they get in a bad mood with you;they look at you with anger; and, then,what do you do? You then place aninvisible barrier between you and himor her. As a result, they cannot enterinto your world and you do not leaveyours either; thus, they lose theirinfluence upon you. In the same way,when you try to control people you loseyour influence over them and distanceis generated between you and them.

Lord. It is normally observedthat when there is a crisis, severepain, fear, sorrow, misery,helplessness, people, in general,remember God only. It revealsthe true and loving relationshipbetween human beings and God.He is the last resort, though Heshould be the first. He is theSupreme Protector.

We have a perennialrelationship with God. We areall souls and His spiritualchildren. He is our SupremeSpiritual Father. The laukikfather keeps on changing ineach of the rebirths we take.But, God, the Supreme, is ourEternal Father. When we havethis perspective, true lovetowards God is naturallyoriginated in the self andremembrance of Him becomesvery natural. We find that Godis our Eternal Father, who givesus the real wealth of peace, love,happiness and protection. Whenthe mind starts rememberingGod, it experiences such bliss

and joy that cannot be attainedfrom any worldly source. Themind is very subtle, which istrying to find peace andhappiness in physical things atpresent. Once the mind isfocused on the Lord, who is theOcean of all virtues and powers,then, it is filled with happinessand contentment. The search forhappiness and peace fromelsewhere stops at this point.

It is a pity that many peopleput in a life’s efforts toconcentrate the mind, yet fail toattain it because they do notknow that the mind will not getfocused on a physical orabstract object. But, here, themind is focused andconcentrated in a natural wayon God, the Supreme, who is thesubtlest of the subtle point ofdivine light. The closestrelationship between theSupreme Soul and the soul isrevived, which makes itabundantly possible for constantremembrance.

Fruits of God’sremembrance

Remembrance of God brings

ecstasy and inner joy. As weremember Him, our past sins areburnt. Our latencies aredivinised. Under the umbrella ofHis protection, the supersensuous joy of being in HisCompany is experienced andthis experience naturally forcesthe self towards deepertransformation, deeper insightand greater inspiration. WhenGod becomes personal and real,then, one is able to experiencethe relationship, and it is throughthis relationship that one beginsto experience the love that givesone faith in oneself and thecourage to change. One has thefeeling as if God, the eternalMother, is sweetly whispering: “I love you as you are, you donot have to prove yourself. Youare what you are and I love andaccept that.”

As we tune our mind andconnect with God, theBenevolent Being, then we fillthe self, not just with light, butwith deep compassion andunderstanding. In thatcompassion and understanding,there is change in the self,attitude and vision towardsothers. Our consciousness islifted and we are much morepositive, encompassing, andreconciling with the other souls.

On thecontrary, a powerful soul (one withhigher will-power) enjoys theexperience of its own choice ofthoughts through checking and controlby the power of intellect, regardlessof the influence of external stimuli.

Meditation develops the power ofintellect to such an extent that thisdegree of control is possible. Apractitioner of meditation can be in themidst of a situation of intensedisturbance, yet he/she remains sounshakeably calm that his/her innerstrength becomes an inspiration forothers, who lack in that strength. The entire world was anoption,” she said.

In her quest for peace,Moira came a few monthslater to Pandav Bhawan atMount Abu, Rajasthan, and nosooner than she looked atBrahma Baba’s photo than sherealised that it was he whosevoice she had heard on thatGoa beach. “It was so clear itwas he. There was nointroduction required. I justknew it was he. I wasabsolutely sure,” she said.There has been no looking backfor her. She then went toJaisalmer in Rajasthan, andthere again she wasdesperately seeking peace. “Iwas so desperate for peace thatI just looked out of the windowof my hotel in Jailsalmer,Rajasthan, and went to the firstperson I saw and asked himwhere should I go for gettingpeace. He just told me to go toMount Abu,” she remembered.

She took the first train to AbuRoad that she could find. Evenin Mount Abu, her reachingPandav Bhawan was no lessinteresting. She was visitingDilwara Temple when shespotted a group of people wholooked very happy withthemselves. “True and genuinehappiness was on their faces”she remembered. She thenasked these people as who theywere and how could they be sohappy. They told her that theywere Brahma Kumars andKumaris and that she shouldvisit Pandav Bhawan forhappiness. And that changed herlife forever.

If realized deeply, it’s alright to concludethat anger destroys. If it doesn’t destroy ourphysical body (that too it manages to do soin the long term), it definitely destroys ourcapacity to be creative. And, after all, thevery purpose of our life is to be creative. So,in short, anger distracts us from reachingour very purpose of life. Anger is never evergood for health – mental or physical; neverever positive or empowering, and, thus, neverever it is allowable or justified. Many authorsof self development books, philosophers,psychologists and experts on the humannature have argued that anger is a natural,biological and psychological response, whichis an integral part of human sanskar and life.While this can be respected as a point ofview of many, it is not at all meant to betrue.

A spiritual perspective means a view basedon the absolute truth, because the word‘spiritual’ means that which is the truth; thus,anger is never ever natural or beneficial.While we are all used to getting angry indifferent extents; on a little introspection, wewill realize that it drains us out and iscounter-productive. Anger is an absolutelyunwanted emotion if we want to live apeaceful, contented and blissful life. It totallydestroys the ability to create meaningful anddeep relationships based on trust andrespect; and fails to bring the efficiency ofour actions, performed at the workplace, athome or anywhere else. If we believe in thenecessity of anger, we should stop for a whileand reflect deeply and see how it is a hugeobstacle to our own contentment andfulfilment, and also negatively influences thecontentment and fulfilment of those aroundus; and, then, we should try to rectify thiserroneous belief.

Why is God’sinfluence not seenin the lives of most

believers? Why does sufferingexist? These are some of thequestions due to which theatheists find it difficult tobelieve in the existence of God,says Richard Dawkins in hisbook God Delusion.

Such questions arise fromthe view that knowledgeinfluences people. But, the truthis that knowledge may or maynot influence people. Forexample, many people haveseen prisons or at least knowthat prisons exist, yet thisknowledge has no influence onthose people, who are bent onlaw-breaking. This means thatmany believers, showing noinfluence of God on their lives,are not a case against Hisexistence. That pain andsuffering exist too cannot argueagainst the existence of Godbecause pain and sufferinghave to exist and they do servea purpose. Pain-mechanism inyour body alerts you to avoidfurther/future harm, so is thecase with suffering. Withchoice comes consequence. As

one makes choices, he facesthe fruits of those choices –good or bad. The naturalcondition of life is harmony.When you act in destructivemanner, you imbalance thatnatural state. This negativeexpression will reverberatethrough the very fabric of life,where it will make animpression and, then, reboundback to the sender. Once thisdiscordant energy has been setin motion, the painful tuningprocess, then, begins untilharmony is restored. Thismeans that unpleasant thingssuch as pain and sufferingshould exist as part of balancingact and as the results of actionspeople choose to do. This is howone can learn and discriminatethe beneficial from theunbeneficial.

However, people, in general,tend to go by convenience,rather than knowledge. Theyact according to their sanskar(tendency). When watched,many people would obey laws;when not watched, manypeople would flout laws. Thismeans that people have apermanent sanskar even

though they may adopt atemporary sanskar underpressure. It is like water turninginto steam when heated to atemperature of 100 degreesCelsius and turning into icewhen frozen. But, under normalcondition, it will return toliquidity, which is its permanentnature. Interestingly, JesusChrist made the sameobservation with regard tohuman behaviour: “The goodman brings good things out ofhis good store of treasure, andthe evil man brings evil thingsout of his evil store of treasure.”(Mathew 12:35) This meansthat people repeat what theyenjoy doing, and suchtendencies would carryforward to their next births too.Seeing the sanskar of hiscousin (John, the Baptist), Jesuscorrectly recognized him as thereincarnated Elijah, the prophetof ancient Israel. (Mathew11:14)

If people choose to go bytheir sanskars; then, it wouldmean that God plays no role inthe natural unfolding of events– with each event having itsbasis on things that happenedbefore. Intervening every timewhen a person misuses hisfreewill and stopping him fromseeing the consequences of hisaction, would only reducehuman beings into robots, whichGod cannot do because they are

Sinceentropy is always at work,things would naturally movefrom perfection to imperfectionand from order to disorder, and,then, from worse to the worst.God’s role would naturally beto elevate human beingswhenever moral decay reachesits climax. (The Gita 4:7) Inother words, there is elevationby God and eventual declinebrought out by human beingswith degree of participationvarying from person to person;and, hence, reaping the varyingresults.

This means that history is acycle of having perfection in thefirst half and imperfection in thesecond half. When people livein harmony with truth (that theyare immortal souls, not merelymortal bodies), there isperfection in their lives and inenvironment. Scriptures showthat mankind had a perfect startas they were living as ‘imagesof God’ or as gods andgoddesses on earth enjoyingperfect harmony with both thehuman beings and animalsenjoying the vegetarian diet.(Genesis 1:27, 29) In ancientIndia, kings were known bytheir fatherly qualities, ratherthan by their personal names.(The Gita 3:20) For

example, Janaka (father) isthe name used to refer to thekings of Videha, which literallymeans without the body(deha). The most famousJanaka is the foster fatherof Sita, the heroine of theepic The Ramayana. The landof Videha was known so,because its inhabitants viewedthemselves primarily asimmortal souls, who had nosense of attachment with thesensory pleasures that thecorporeal body would provide,and Sita was the princess ofVideha. Then, women enjoyedvery high status in the society.(Manusmriti 3:56) The factthat Lakshmi is remembered asthe goddess of wealth and well-being and Saraswati as thegoddess of knowledge showsthat in the first half of thehistory, women were entrustedwith the important portfoliossuch as Finance and Education.The amazing depth into whichpeople of Bharat (ancientname of India) have gone withregard to such things as theirclassical music, dance,yogasanas, etc. shows thatthis country had a glorious pastwhen they enjoyed abundantmaterial prosperity. Thismaterial prosperity was simplya side-effect of their spiritualprosperity. This is implied in thevery name Bharat (literally,

delighted in knowledge).Bharat was named so becauseits residents’ delight was intheir knowledge that theywere immortal souls (but not justmortal bodies), the children ofthe Supreme Soul; and, hence,they were divine in theirbehaviour. The ruler’s namewas Rama, which means “onewho delights everybody.”When the king and subjectsdelightfully based their lives ontruth, there was no conflict inthe minds of the individuals,families and countries. Nowonder, his capital was knownas Ayodhya, which literallymeans a (without) + yodhya(liable to conflict or war).

Then, moral decay startedwith the passing of the time.(The Gita 4:2) When the soulsslipped into untruth believingthat they were mortal bodies,the second half of the worldhistory began. Under theimpact of body-consciousness,they began to view themselvesas male and female. Womanwould feel weaker and look toman for security; and, on theother hand, man would feelstronger and look to woman forpleasure. If their desire getsfulfilled, then it would lead togreed, attachment andarrogance; and if desire is notfulfilled, then, anger would arise,which would result in

competition, conflict andsorrow. In body-consciousness,desire (fulfilled or not) resultsin pain and sorrow. Naturally,people would start a form ofworship seeking materialbenefits from God, whichreveals people’s lovefor bhoga or things of God(rather than Bhagavan or GodHimself). Thus, people wereworship-worthy in the first halfof the history whereas theybecame worshippers in thesecond half of the history, usingdevotion or bhakti (from bhaj,to divide or share) as a meansfor material benefit. Nowonder, Jesus declared bhaktias futile and, then, made therevolutionary revelation thatpeople would be judged by theirhumane view of the fellowhuman beings, but not by theforms of their worship.(Mathew 7:21-23; 25:31-36)

Such materialistic outlookwould naturally reach climax inextreme selfish attitude, whichwould call for God’sintervention, and He takesmeasures to elevate the humanbeings. Thus, God plays Hisrole only at the end ofeach Kalpa (a period of 5000years). This would mean thatreligions that appeared in thesecond half of the history wereall offsprings of their time. Whathappens to the Kalpa, happens

to religions too – each religionwas good when it started, thenit decayed with the passage oftime. This explains why religionsturned divisive later, why theScriptures contained scientificerrors, and why the believersoften manifested no influenceof God in their lives. Wheninfluence of God was not seenon the believers (which meansthat the believers wereliving without God) manypeople decided to turn intoatheists. Interestingly, the wordatheist is a combination of twoGreek words a (without) +theos (God); thus, the termatheist literally means ‘one wholives without God, or liveswithout taking God intoaccount.’

This means that atheismarose because some peoplecould not reconcile the decayof the second half of the historywith existence of God. But, ifthey take into account the firsthalf of the history also, wherethere was perfection both in theenvironment and in the lives ofpeople, who reflected God’squalities, they will have to admitthat the Almighty God, theInfinite Source of thosequalities, exists. Those, wholearn Rajayoga, are fortunateenough, because theyexperience the first-handtraining programme directed by

God Shiva in this period calledSangama Yuga (Transition/Confluence Age), and, as aresult, they are now leading agolden-aged life, which makesthem worthy of inheriting theGolden Age or Paradise orHeaven that is soon to beestablished here on earth.

An angel belongs to everyone with its universality, but not to just one or two.

chances of material progress.Men’s intellects have widenedand their perceptions havegrown, but, in spite of all this,human blood is being spilt dayby day. Violence, hatred,jealousy, etc. lead to bloodshednow and then. Look at thewretched fate of enormousnumber of unhappy peoplearound the planet! How manyhave been killed during this sadtime? How many homes areruined, wives become desolateand children turn orphans! Andwhat is to be gained in exchangefor all these anguish andheartache? These all show thatmaterial progress alone does nottend to uplift man. On thecontrary, the more he becomesimmersed in material progress,the more does his spiritualitybecome obscured and he losesthe meaning of love andbrotherhood.

Most people, today, share thecommon understanding thathappiness comes from materialpossessions. The faultiness ofthis thinking, perhaps, bestreveals itself when weacknowledge the real sufferingexperienced by those, who seemto have it all. Studies show that

material wealth contributes tohappiness so long as it solvesdefinite personal problemsassociated with poverty,malnutrition, homelessness,physical exhaustion, or disease.But, once they are solved, wealthbecomes less and less efficientat making people happy. Forpeople, who are grounded insome body of spiritual teachings,the reason for this seems clearenough. Happiness is an innercondition. Until we get ourspiritual house in order, therewon’t be much joy orcontentment. Both spiritual andmaterial bases for humanhappiness need to beenergetically pursued to makeour lives better.

It is evident that it isimpossible to move forwardwithout spiritual development.Without this, one will not be ableto withstand internal andexternal challenges, nor can onesucceed in global competitions.Every country has to havemilitary, technological andeconomic strength; but, the mainthing that will determine successis the quality of the citizens andsociety: their intellectual, spiritualand moral strength. After all, inthe end, economic growth,prosperity and geo-politicalinfluence are all derived fromsocietal conditions. They dependon whether the citizens of agiven country consider

Can human civilization grow,mature and develop if we remainstagnant? When we look backat history, can we truly say thatthe human race has progressed? Some have already fallenthrough their ice of lies and,perhaps, the repercussions of thecold shock will give them arealisation and desire to crawlout and get warmth from the sunof truth.

It is the right time to changeyour actions for the better,before they change you for theworse. You need to learn toacknowledge the beautifulperson hidden within you. Youneed to make sure that the darkforces within you should neverwin over the good in you andtake the centre stage in your life.The ‘beautiful you’ needs toexpress itself and perform

elevated actions and walk in theright direction to experiencetrue happiness. If you want tobe a real king with all thespiritual treasures; then, youneed to think and act differentlythat will take you closer to yourreal original pure self.

classes for its daily students.The timings of its classes, bothin the morning and evening, aresuch as it suits most of thepeople. In the morning, theclasses, at most places, are heldfrom 6.30 a.m. to 8.00 a.m. asmany of them have to go to theirworkplaces, others have to dothe household chores, andchildren as well as youth haveto go to their schools andcolleges. At most of the centers,the classes are held in theevening also, generally from 7.00p.m. to 8.30 p.m.One Month or One-Week

Course and CondensedCourses for three daysBefore a person is admitted

to these spiritual classes, he hasto take up at least, a One-WeekCourse. For others, whose lifeis very busy and who cannot,therefore, spend even that muchtime, the time can be shortenedor modified. After undergoingthat short course, if he feelsdeeply interested, he himselfmakes his best efforts to findtime to attend to further studies.

In order to fulfill the needs ofthe students of various levels,

there are, at some intervals,refresher courses, advancedcourses or in-depth studies.There is also provision forindividual or groupcounseling in order to solvedifficulties of individuals or tocater to the spiritual needs ofvarious age-groups or varioussegments of the society.Conferences, Workshops,

Seminars, etc.Since the education in moral

and human values, behavioralchange and practice ofmeditation has to be imparted tovarious people to build a bettersociety, holding of mere classesor giving of courses of variousdurations is neither enough noralways suitable to all categoriesof people.

There are people, who areextremely busy because of thenature of their work. Politicians,media persons, judges, manytop-ranking bureaucrats, etc.belong to this category. Theremay also be some, who do notrealize the importance of thiskind of education, for they havenever had any exposure to it and,therefore, have no experience ofits benefits. There may also bepeople, who, at their age, or withall their erudition or high status,feel shy or arrogant in joiningclasses with others. Though thisshyness /arrogance/pr idevanishes later, when one getssome knowledge of real self and

the connection with OneSupreme Father, initially suchpeople have to be provided withoccasions, where they can comeand join all without feeling of aloss of respect or hurting theirpride.

So, conferences, seminars,workshops and get-togethers arethe means of education, both forthe classes and the masses. Thisuniversity organizes such eventsfor judges, doctors, professors,media persons, scientists andengineers, businessmen andindustrialists, poets andlitterateurs, artists, youth,women, social workers,politicians, administrators, etc.,and also holds multi-disciplinarymeetings or InternationalConferences. The top brassfrom each segment of society,or from every profession, areinvited to address or toparticipate in discussions anddeliberations. In such anatmosphere, everyone can giveone’s views without anyinhibitions, but one has, naturally,to sit through all the proceedingsand to listen. This sort of giveand take, or opening of mind andstarting communication withsuch people, who are committedto the cause of peace and ofmoral and human values, is veryeducative.

Afterall, they get an exposure to thespiritual knowledge in subtleways; the teachings once goneinto their heads will rise intotheir awareness and goad themto action sometime in the future.It will not be lost totally andforever.

dramas, puppet shows, dances,dialogues, etc., to promotevalues and to inspire people fortaking to good ways of life.Children and youth are involvedin writing and enacting dramas,singing songs, reciting poems,etc.

The university organizesRajayoga Meditation Camps atits Headquarters in Mount Abufrom time to time, sometimes,during festivals and fairs too.Many people, including judges,journalists, authors, doctors,scientists, management experts,educationists, etc., can attendthese camps. Up to now,hundreds of thousands of eachcategory have attended thesecamps and benefited from them.There are written opinions fromthem as to what benefitts theyhad and what the educationalvalues of these camps are.

elocution contests, debates, etc.,on values that enable childrenand youth to reflect deeply onthose themes and, thus, toconvince themselves of the needfor high character and highermoral, human, social and spiritualvalues. Those, who listen also,feel inspired by the oration offellow students.

Art competitions also prove tobe very educative. Each artwork gives a great message inan aesthetic manner, creating alasting effect. One art-piecesums up so much in a smallspace, which even voluminousbooks may not sometimesconvey in such an interesting,colorful and beautiful manner.

Celebration of FestivalsThe Indian festivals are full of

spiritual significance. They havea deeper meaning and astimulating message. Mostpeople have heard only themythological stories relating tothem but do not know themessage each festival gives. Ifpeople know the real meaningof each festival or each ‘sacredday’, they will get nourishmentfor their cultural roots and willenjoy the spirit behind them.Also, the festivals will becomea means to national integrationand social amity.

They waste somuch on this occasion and,often, they quarrel though theyare supposed to celebratehappiness, to forget all wrongdoings of others and to set asidethe hang-over of the bitter pastif there is any. Hence, thisfestival can be used for greatpersonal change and a chanceto set our relationships straightand to begin new relationshipson a happy note, provided peopleknow its origin and intent.

Similarly, people celebrateDeepavali and RakshaBandhan festivals with greatfestivity and show. But, they donot light their inner selves, wheredarkness still prevails nor do theyopen new accounts of theiractions, by closing the past ones.Likewise, they give gifts to theirsisters, who tie Rakhi round thewrists of brothers but, soon, theyforget the message of purity,which this festival gives.
