which has competed and has been declared Best Puppy in Breed, Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register Puppy. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best of Group or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Group or Best Puppy in Show respectively. Where the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group or Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively.

1) Best Puppy in Group and subsequent placings must be selected from those puppies which have been declared Best Puppy in Breed, Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register Puppy.

2) Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners. 11. Best in Show: The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and has been declared Best of

3) Best in Show: Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection for Best in Show.

12. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

13. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

14. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

15. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.

• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.

• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water

available to drink. • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.

• Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.

• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time.

Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

17. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show

18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

19. No modifications will be made to the Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

20. The Show will be held under KC Rules & Show Regulations and it is on this understanding only that entries are accepted.

21. Should a judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement the Committee reserve the right to appoint another judge to fulfill their duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition but no fees will be returned.

22. A judges decision is final except in a case of fraud or misrepresentation or where a mistake has been made bona fide by the judge. Judges are instructed and empowered to withhold a prize in any class if in their opinion the dog(s) entered do not possess sufficient merit.

23. The attention of exhibitors is drawn to the proposed order of judging published in the schedule. This will be adhered to as far as possible but after 12.00 noon (midday) the Committee reserve the right to alter the order of judging if necessary.

24. The Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of, or any damage to any dog or other property whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever or for any act or omission of themselves, their officers or others and it is on this understanding only that entries are received.

25. Should any question arise not provided for in these Regulations, the decision of the Committee shall be final, subject only to appeal to the Kennel Club. The Board of the Kennel Club shall be the main Court of Appeal or Umpire in all questions or disputes of any kind whatsoever except where such powers are delegated by the Board of the Kennel Club.

26. All classes will be for Dog or Bitch unless otherwise stated. When more than 20 entries are received for any mixed breed class that class will be split into two separate classes by sex.

27. No animal other than a dog duly entered at the Show will be allowed within the precincts of the Show. All dogs must be brought with a suitable collar and lead and must be properly supervised at all times.

28. Exhibitors showing dogs are not permitted to hold conversation with the judge during the competition, any exhibitor who persists in addressing the judge, after being requested not to do so by the ring steward, the judge or Show Manager, may be disqualified and any prizes awarded to his/her dog forfeited. No person other than the exhibitor (officials exhibited) will be allowed in the ring during judging.

29. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches.

30. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).

31. A dog may be disqualified by the Board from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees.

32. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.
