This 36 acre acility has one o the largest graving docks in Australasia. On the Brisbane River,

Cairncross is close to Brisbanes CBD, its busy shipping port and international airport. Cairncross plays

host to cruise liners, container ships, bulk carriers, tankers and more, specialising in dry dockings and

Forgacs had its genesis in 1950 when owner and Managing Director Stephen Forgacs started as a 15 year old

tter and turner apprentice in Ganz Wagon Budapest.

Stephen arrived in Australia in 1957 as a young immigrant, feeing the Soviet invasion o Hungary, speaking little

English. Fresh rom Europe, through sheer will and extraordinary eort he built a marine and heavy engineering

Forgacs people. Today more than 90 apprentices are indentured at

Forgacs with each given individual training. Forgacs is also part o

a pilot project to introduce secondary school students to careers
