BlueWater Chamber Orchestra is Northeast Ohio’s premier ensemble dedicated to the performance of exciting and unusual repertoire for chamber orchestra. With its unpretentious approach to music making, BlueWater’s goal is to make audiences comfortable by breaking down the many barriers associated with “classical” music. In addition to its concert series, the orchestra performs in other settings such as churches, libraries, nursing homes, and even local bars! The orchestra is also in residence at Saint Ignatius High School, with a partnership that encompasses performance, education and outreach.

Kent State University’s Charles Latshaw is podium guest. Musicians from BlueWater solo in a double concerto by Ellen Taaeffe Zwilich, the first woman composer to win the coveted Pulitzer Prize for Music. Part of the “Near West Neighborhood Series.”

The season concludes with Beethoven’s complete incidental music for Goethe’s Egmont, with narration by Dr. Joe Wendel of WCPN’s German-American Hour. Cleveland soprano Marian Vogel dazzles in opera showpieces, and the orchestra premieres a work by the 2015 Iron Composer Competition winner.
