Writing interesting emails to develop into leads takes work. Knowing what to write each week is a challenge for many mass email marketers.

This guide will help you write better emails for your email marketing efforts by highlighting tips that you can use in building great lead generating email marketing base. While this is not an all-encompassing list, these beginning steps will get you started in mastering your online marketing goals in mass email marketing

Use Opt-In Lead Magnets to Build Permission-Based Lists Provide your website visitors with opt-in opportunities with lead magnets. Lead magnets provide well-written quality information that the reader wants. When a reader opt-in, he or she is letting you know that they are interested in the topic that is discussed. If your email newsletter provides material that is of the same topic, then it is a good bet that he or she will also be interested in your emails and will read them. Tech Tip: Check out what your competition is doing. What lead magnet topics do they offer?

If the reader feels that it is spam, then it is spam.

Frequently Consistent

Being frequent and consistent when you send out your emails is better than infrequent and less often. Keeping your topic of interest within the purview of the reader is important to maintaining a good readership. Also, being consistent with your emails helps build a habit with the reader in viewing your emails.

Tech Tips: Use a content calendar to schedule out your emails and schedule when they will be sent.

Know What Type of Response You Want What are you hoping to achieve with your email?

When you know what you want to accomplish with your mailout, your email newsletters become better marketing tools. Are you wanting the reader to clink on a link, hit rely and message you back, or take a survey? Tech Tips: Write with the end objecting in mind.

Be Personable Not only by using the person’s name, but with how you have written your email. Be a friend. When you write your emails in a friendly personable manner, you connect better with the reader. Tech Tips: Know your common interest and share what that community wants to hear or learn more about.

“Know what your readers want.”

Set Expectations Set up proper expectations by being a part of your email subscribers. The reader will anticipate what is expected from receiving your emails, whether it is receiving great how-to’s or receiving great offers. Make sure it is something that is useful, interesting, or profitable for your readers. Tech Tips: Expectations keep the reader interested and intrigued.

Keep It Short

Shorter emails stay in a reader’s memory longer. It’s part of the Zeigarnik effect. We tend to remember what is left incomplete or unfinished. The idea is that an interrupted or incomplete task will compel us to complete the what we were in the middle of doing. An incomplete story will keep your reader interested in your topic. Tech Tips: Telling a story and leaving your hook until next time will keep the reader interested.

Post Scripts Work Readers tend to view the P.S. on an email first! Your P.S. is the first item most readers will view when opening your email. Make sure you have something worthwhile to mention there – an excellent tip or offer will not go unnoticed. Tech Tips: Always include a P.S. to your email.

Only one response per email.
