On Wednesday 6thAugust, we intend to break ground for the construction of themonument to be built in their memory. I invite you all to be there as our Deputy PrimeMinister does the honours.

This is the ninth one of these that we have done. The first was done at the behest ofthe National Independence Committee then headed by Winston Saunders. He askedthat communities around the country find their own unique ways to mark independenceapart from the national celebrations. We chose to do this in Fox Hill.

Last year we had as our guest the man who raised the flag for the first time on thatfateful independence night.

This is the time when we in this community again commit ourselves to building ourcountry with our own hands.

Tonight is a time for reflection on all the things that we have built; about the peoplewho helped to construct our community, including those four people who died. Eventhough they were young, each in their own way contributed to the building up of thecommon life.

I ask you therefore to continue to do the things that make for peace and build up thecommon life.

Since that time in 2005, we have seen many changes in Fox Hill. Many have passed on.

We miss them but we know that we will continue to do their work.

It remains then for me to thank the Rev. J Carl Rahming and the Pastors of Fox Hill fortheir contribution to the common life of Fox Hill. Without the church, I do not knowwhere we would be.

The leaders of Urban Renewal Inspector Munroe and his team.
