A note to the Florida State Reviewer: Thank you for reviewing Pearson digits for grades 6-8.

The purpose of this brochure is to guide you, the reviewer, to the location of the major tool components for both the teacher and student within digits. Your personal demo account includes both teacher and

student major tool components.

Please follow the instructions within this guide for a quick overview of the components and where they are located within the digital lesson structure. This will help streamline your review of digits.

This guide is divided into three sections: Section 1) Create your personal demo account and log in Section 2) Become familiar with the resources located within the Table of Contents grade level folders Section 3) Walk through a digital lesson to become familiar with the lesson- specific resources. Section 4) Additional resources within the Table of Contents folders Enjoy your review of digits!

Section 1: Create your Personal Demo Account

Visit http://successnetplus.com/programs/digits and click “Register for a free

demo”

(NOTE: You may want to check your computer settings before registering as

suggested to ensure an optimal user experience)

Enter your information as requested. Use demo

access code FLmathGR678. Click “Register” to

create your personal digits teacher demo account

with access to the full curriculum.

Your personal digits teacher demo account will be created in just a few seconds, and you will receive a confirmation message right on the screen as well as a confirmation email. Be sure to note down your username and password you just created; you will need this

information to log in to your demo account.

NOTE: Pearson does not use the personal information from this form for any reason but to email confirmation of your username and password. Section 1: Log in to your Personal Demo Account

3 Now you are ready to explore digits content!

Go to www.MathDashboard.com/digits and log

into your personal digits teacher demo account

as a Returning User using your username and

password.

4 Each time you log in to digits, you will

encounter the home screen. For the

purpose of review, you will want to click on

the Curriculum Tab to be taken to the full

Table of Contents.

5 Your digits demo account includes all three grades (6, 7

and 8) in one account. To activate the Table of Contents

for a specific grade level – click on the grade level you

wish to review from the Library on the left hand side of

the screen.

The Teacher Orientation Folder includes documents to aid in your navigation

of digits *. The Program Overview Guide is the driver’s manual for digits. It

includes information such as correlations, pacing, pedagogy and digits lesson

structure. The Teacher Orientation Folder also includes parent letters and

model lesson videos of digits being taught in an actual classroom.

Below the Teacher Orientation Folder, you will see a set of Unit folders. digits is

organized based on the Common Core Domains and Clusters. The Unit folders

represent the Domains and the Topic folders within each unit represent the Clusters.

Within each unit folder you will find a Unit Readiness Assessment and Unit Enrichment

Support folder.

Students take the Unit Readiness Assessment online at the start of a unit, with the results being used to assign them into leveled learning groups. This differentiation includes leveled homework and mixed practice that can be assigned to each student. It also generates a personalized study plan to make sure students have the prerequisite skills necessary to complete the unit successfully. Enrichment Support consists of unit- and topic-based projects discussed in more detail later in this guide.

Section 2: Table of Contents Folders

Within each Topic Folder is a topic

level Readiness Lesson and the

resources to teach each of the daily

Core Lessons.

The Readiness Lesson Folder includes all of the resources needed to teach the

Readiness Lesson in one location. The first icon with the array of colored dots,

represents the digital lesson. The icons with the pencil and paper represent

worksheets, answer keys and guides available for print or download. The icon

with the clipboard, indicates a pre-made, but editable lesson plan. Finally, the

blue icon with the pyramid, represents the digital homework. (Print

homework is available further down in the Table of Contents)

Within the Topic Folder are the daily

core On-Level Lesson Resources which

consist of the following: digital lesson,

homework, teacher guide and lesson

plan. The homework includes the core

homework as well as a mixed review.

The previously seen file structure and

icons apply with the daily Core On-

Level Lessons as well.

To view the digital lesson, hover over the lesson title to activate the drop down arrow, then choose Preview.

Online digital homework is offered at two levels (G: on-level, K: below level) based on data from the Readiness Assessment. Click Preview to view.

The complete lesson Teacher’s Guide is viewable and customizable from the Table of Contents folders. Click Open to view.

The pre-made Lesson Plan is viewable and customizable from the Table of Contents folders. Click View.

Section 3: Digital Lesson Walkthrough

The following pages will walk you through a digital lesson. The Teacher and Student Major Tools are identified for each portion of the lesson. We will start with the first lesson of any . The first lesson of every topic includes introductory resources that are not part of the remaining lessons in that topic. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: TEACHER MAJOR TOOL: Available in three formats 1. Use the arrows to progress to the next screen

Click the Teacher Support drop down arrow to activate the point of use teacher panel

The Teacher Support panel contains point of use support and facilitating questions for the portion of the digital lesson that is currently on screen. The Overview panel offers information applicable to the lesson as a whole. The Teacher Support panel links offer downloadable Teacher Guides. The Topic Opener links include the full Unit Teacher Guide and the Topic Teacher Guide.

Close and Check (digital lesson - final tab for each lesson, revisits the focus question. Students have work space in their Student Companion to record their response to the Focus Question. Students then move to a check for understanding with Do You Know How? and Do You Understand? Sections of the Student Companion)

Note: Buttons at the bottom of the screen provide access to the Student Companion and the annotated version as well as “Work It Out” which shrinks down the data on the screen to make room for students to share their reasoning strategies on the interactive whiteboard or projection surface at the front of the class.

Note: The last page of each lesson within the Student Companion provides another formative check for understanding before students begin their daily homework. Do You Know How? assesses the content standards within the lesson while Do You Understand? assesses the application of those standards along with the Mathematical Practices.

Section 3: Digital Lesson Walkthrough – Math Tools

Accessible from any digital lesson screen by clicking on the “tools” icon.

Click on the to view a video on how to operate each math tool.

Math Tools are virtual manipulatives that enable users to interact with, develop, and model math concepts in real time. The tools support teachers in constructing and teaching math concepts visually. The tools also support students in exploring variations of a given math concept and in deepening their understanding.

Topic Level Assessments

Located within the Topic Folder: Topic Review digital lesson with review game, Topic Review Homework Assignment, Topic Review Lesson, Topic Test in print or digital format with Study Plan.

Assessments Progress Monitoring Assessments

Located in the Progress Monitoring Folder near the end of the Table of Contents are the Diagnostic Assessments, Unit Assessments and Printable Readiness Assessments

Enrichment Support

Enrichment Support consists of unit- and topic-based projects where students are expected to organize, plan, research, write, and present their results.

As shown earlier, within each Unit folder is an Enrichment Support folder. The Enrichment Support folders for all Units are also grouped together near the end of the Table of Contents.

Section 4: Additional Table of Contents Resources

Intervention Lessons

Intervention Lessons are located near the bottom of the Table of Contents. Each grade level includes over 100 Intervention Lessons designed to support various implementation models. Intervention Lessons can be completed by students independently or can be completed with the guidance of a teacher.

Each Intervention Lesson folder includes a digital lesson, student journal page, digital homework, teacher guide and lesson plan.

Additional Resources At the bottom of the Table of Contents are a few additional resources.

The Math Tools icon is a direct link to the same set of math tools as is accessible from the digital lesson screen.

The Glossary icon is a direct link to the same audio/visual glossary as is accessible from the digital lesson screen.

The Technical Manual icon is a direct link to the technical manual also located within the Teacher Orientation Folder.

The About This Course icon is a direct link to the copyright and credit information for digits.

The Host Video Captions icon is a direct link to the script for each host video found within the digits program.
