The camping season is winding down, the cold weather is on its way, and nobody is happy about it except Frosty. So what do we do? I’ll tell ya what we will do, we will boycott winter; not Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years, just winter itself. We will boycott slushy salty roads, frozen fingers and toes, and empty campgrounds and golf courses. We will look Jack Frost right in the eye and say, “We’re goin’ to Florida.” For those of us who do not get the pleasure of Florida for the winter, then we’ll just freeze our butts off. There is one aspect of the winter months that I do love, and that is football. There’s nothing better than watching a bunch of millionaires beat the snot out of each other. Other things that I will enjoy this winter are sledding with the boys, shooting my guns, and of course… driving Dean crazy. Thank You to Alice Everett for hosting bingo, and acting as our activities director. Thank You to Lee Perkins and Bill Conway for keeping the grass at bay. The 2012 Antique Tractor Show & Flea Market was a great success. We had campers show up from all over and priceless treasures as far as the eye could see. Being that this is the first show where Dad gave me the reigns, I feel it went very smooth despite heavy rains on Friday, strong winds on Saturday, and an over-abundance of Michigan fans. The Antique Power Association had to cancel the truck pulls on Friday and the tractor pulls on

bring the covered dishes when you sign up, they will either get eaten or go bad before the night of the pig roast. The pig roast is a great opportunity for all of our campers to meet one another and share your winter plans. There will be an abundance of children in costume, so if you wish you may bring lots of

candy to pass out so that local dentists can keep their jobs. Now get into the parts store and get signed up for this once in a lifetime event.

Saturday, but they resumed with thunderous exhaust pipes on Sunday with the kiddy pull. My guess is that the kids had a bucket of fries before they pulled. They also had the antique tractor pulls and the rescheduled truck pulls, so all in all we still had a good showing for the pulls. We had a great turnout for campers, as most of you already know. I received many comments about visiting campers being parked in spots where we have not

had to park them before. Needless to say, I was inventing places to put campers, but we got them all in. Thank you to everyone who participated in the success of the show. It takes a great team to make an event like that go from start to finish without a hitch. One special thank you that I would like to extend is to team Craig for havin’ my back all weekend. It makes my job easier knowing that I have the full support of my crew.

Thank You to our advertisers for making

The Chatter free to everyone.

Steve and Patty Springer have owned and operated Poor Farmer’s RV for the past twenty years. They bought the business from Steve’s father Carl in 1993. Steve and Patty are two of the hardest working people that I have ever met. Their dedication to Poor Farmers is only shadowed by their dedication to their family and friends; many of which they would have never met if it weren’t for Poor Farmer’s. It feels weird to call them Steve and Patty. I have known them as Mom and Dad for quite some time only because they have treated me like a son for so long. Steve once told me that because I am the father of his grandson, he considers me family and I

am therefore “stuck” with them forever. It is out of an immeasurable amount of respect that I consider them more than just friends, but family. Now that I got that mushy stuff out of the way, I can tell you a little about The Springer’s. Steve and Patty are avid hunters; whether it’s deer, bear, moose, or fish, they love the great outdoors. They also love to camp. One of the reasons I’m here is to give them the opportunity to gather their friends for a camping trip or head down to Florida to deliver a new Coachmen Catalina to a customer (wink wink). Steve and Patty have been working very hard to build a successful business their entire family can make a living at. Now it’s their time

to relax and enjoy themselves without the stress of the day-to-day operations of the campground to get in the way. The official retirement party for Mom and Dad will be April 26-28, 2013. Get into the parts store to sign up for this weekend-long party. I am honored that Mom and Dad trust me to, not only take care of the business, but that they trust me to take care of their daughter and grandsons as well. From Andrea, Amy, Dean, Denise, Janice, Lynn, Brian, The Craigs, and Myself; We love you Mom and Dad, relax and have fun. You’ve earned it.

This month’s Site of the Month goes to Richard and Nancy Hile. The

front porch is made from concrete pavers and

comes equipped with a golf cart parking ramp.

The frontage is accented with black

fence, table and chairs, and swing. Richard and

Nancy should feel extremely honored because they have

earned the first site of the month that does not

sport a Coachmen product.
