A chair takes 258 hours to complete, from building the frame to the finishing colour touches

1. Rasp frame edges for tacks2. Web the frame with hessian webbing3. Hessian up the frame, inside arm and inside back, stitch together for shape and add ties for hair4. Make up tack roll for front of inside arm with black fibre and hessian5. Fix ties for inside arm for black fibre block, then stuff and cover with hessian for shape6. Stuff hair on under ties, inside back and arm, feather out for shape and thickness7. Calico inside arm and inside back, stitch together at back of arm8. Add wool mix liner to inside arm and back9. Grade, sort and cut hide10. Tack on hide to inside back11. Tack on hide to inside arms12. Tack on webbing for underside of frame for seat13. Stitch in springs14. Sisal for mid springs to frame15. Hessian over, stitch to springs16. Make up tack roll for front seating with black fibre and hessian, mould to shape and size17. Fix ties in seat hessian for hair18. Stuff hair on and under ties, feather out for shape and thickness19. Fit calico over seat, stitch through at lip stitch line20. Fit wool mix liner to seat21. Fit leather lip and seat platform22. Web up outside frame with hessian webbing23. Hessian up outside wing and outside back24. Fit calico to outside wing25. Fit wool mix liner to outside back and wing26. Fit leather to outside back and outside wing27. Back tack outside arm28. Web and hessian up outside arm29. Fit wool mix liner to outside arm30. Leather up outside arms31. Apply hessian dust cover32. Stuff hair facings and leather up33. Individually hand-nail whole chair34. Mix formula for dye and apply first phase colouring to hide with rag35. 3 days of drying time36. Apply layers of further colouring, polishing and waxing to finish
