Join the FBC Celebration Orchestra

We are looking for instrumentalists to join our FBC Celebration Orchestra. This is a great time to join. We want to encourage you to dust off your woodwind, brass or stringed instrument and join us as we celebrate in worship each Sunday. We want to especially encourage our young people that are playing in their high school bands to consider joining the orchestra. Your Band Director will be glad that you are getting the extra experience and the Lord will be happy that you are using your talent for Him.

The FBC Celebration Orchestra rehearses every Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the Worship Center and plays for our 10:45 service and special events. Our Worship Pastor, Scott Andrews, would love to talk to you about becoming involved in this ministry. For more information call 453-9001 or email Scott at [email protected]. Better yet grab your instrument and come on Wednesday and make a joyful noise.

It is a joyous blessing to see our loving Lord at work in individuals and the body collectively at FBCS. The Spirit that prevails here is of the Lord.

We are praying our loving Lord will invest His minister in your pulpit. He will be a blessed man and we pray a man who will himself be a blessing to you. There is no limit to what PEOPLE AND PASTOR TOGETHER can achieve in this community through this church.

Change is inevitable and, though frequent, it always requires adjustment. Uncertainty prevails when that with which we are familiar is replaced. It is not the norm. Doubtless, all members have an idea of the change they would like to see in the world. Change often gives birth to fear. To that, I share two words found eighty times in the Bible: “Fear not!”

The ships of fear and faith sail into the harbor of the mind. Only the ship of faith shold be allowed to anchor. God is the pilot of the ship.

“Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6

Evaluate what you can do personally to make the church an even better one. There is always room to improve. What ministry can you perform that will be a blessing to others? Find it and get lost performing it. There is a delight associated with doing God’s

I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge on behalf of Trudy and myself our thanks for your grace, love, and thoughtfulness. It is an honor to serve with you. We are humbled by your spontaneous kindness. It is a signature characteristic of this fellowship.

I am going to be teaching at a Christian retreat center in Bermuda on April 11-23. This lovely retreat was developed by British Christian businessmen. I have been holding these retreats at this ocean front resort for some years. In the mornings, there will be 30 minutes of Bible study. Persons will then be free the remainder of the day. The scenery is stunning and the food gourmet. Visit www.Willowbank.bm and consider joining me. Feel free to join me for a couple of days or the entire retreat.

In Christ, Nelson Price

The Fullness of Life: Christ-centered HappinessBrandon Kennedy

At times, the pursuit of happiness is fleeting or as elusive as chasing after the wind. Other times, we begin to think we have reached the unreachable pinnacle of life, the point of life that is most satisfying. But once we make camp we notice that we are looking for more. The realization that you have to continue your pursuit to reach your aspirations is daunting. This process continues and every attempt to push for advancement echoes failure. Then it finally sinks in that this ordinary life is just pointless, for it is impossible to reach happiness - despite our yearning for that virtue.

This yearning for happiness is something internalized within each person. The arduous part of this pursuit is the subjectivity of “happiness”. Happiness may carry a greater or lesser meaning from person-to-person. However, when we align our thoughts within the parameters of Scripture, we see a slightly different view of happiness.

In Scripture, the Biblical view of happiness

one day gather around the throne and worship the one who died for you and for me to take away the sins of the world. I cannot imagine the moment we all see Jesus face-to- face for the first time. Without a doubt, every Christian feels the same way. In the meantime until that day, we have the opportunity to worship Him daily and then corporately on Sunday. The private time you spend with the Lord each and every day will only enhance the time we spend together on Sundays as a body of believers.

As the Worship Pastor at FBCS I want to encourage you to make worship a priority in your life. I find myself worshipping the Lord in my car as I drive from place to place... sometimes in the solitude of my office, especially when I am planning worship. I get so excited about what God has led me to plan

is interconnected to the life given to us by Christ. “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” ~John 10:10. Jesus calls His followers, not to a dour and miserable life, but to a full, joyful life where life has meaning - glorifying the Father. But Jesus warns us that the thief desires to steal and kill and destroy our lives. The thief uses every tactic to achieve this goal. Sometimes these tactics include our thoughts.

Thoughts can be motivating or crippling. Our thoughts that test the authority of God and His Word are strongholds of wrong thinking and behavior. That is why we must take every thought captive.

“For though we walk in flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” ~2 Corinthians 10:3-6

Thoughts of happiness are as evasive as the wind, unless we pursue a Christ-centered happiness, more specifically known as joy. What keeps us from living in Christ-centered happiness is not our sin but our thoughts from sin. Our thoughts of guilt, insecurity, or doubt keep us from living a free life in Christ Jesus. The thief seeks to steal freedom by guilt. The thief seeks to kill our freedom with insecurity. The thief seeks to destroy our freedom in doubt. But there is freedom. Freedom in Christ.

Jesus came to give us life and so that we can have it abundantly. This fullness of life is only possible if you know God. Knowing God brings us to a Christ-centered happiness. For we recognize that we were as good as dead, but God put all our sins on His innocent Son. Christ became sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). The fullness of life is Christ taking sin so that we can become the righteousness of God.

that I cannot contain myself...much less wait until Sunday. I find opportunities to worship in my daily contact with my family and with others. It is an act of worship to proclaim God’s goodness to you and showing God’s goodness to others. Stop right now! Don’t read any more! Okay you have to read this to know what I want you to do, but take time this moment to Worship, Sing, Pray, Listen, and Read God’s Word.

You finished? Wasn’t that refreshing? Really I hope you didn’t even finish this article because you got so caught up in spending some alone time with God.

Revelation 5 said thousands of thousands. We will not be thousands of thousands this Sunday, but we could be if every believer made worship a priority. Don’t miss out on what God has for you today and every Lord’s day!

Worship the OneScott AndrewsAssociate Pastor: Worship

Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!

And every creature which is in heaven and on earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

Those of us who proclaim Jesus as Savior will
