Principal’s Report
Mother’s Day Stall
The students will have an opportunity to
purchase something special for their Mothers
at our P&C Mother’s Day stall, which will be
held on Thursday. Like previous years,
students will be allowed to purchase a gift
during the morning session. Gifts will range in
price from $2 to $6.
Change in Student Late Arrival, Early Departure
If you are picking your child up early from school, please enter via the office
and ask for an ‘early leaving slip’ first, before going to the classroom. This is our
record that your child has left early on a particular day and lets the teachers
know that early departure approval has been given. By doing this, it also gives
staff an idea about who is on the school site, in an emergency situation. Your
assistance in this matter is appreciated. Students will also need to obtain a slip if
they arrive late to school. Please see the office, as normal, to get one.
School Website App for your Mobile Phone
I hope you are finding our school website informative and a
useful place to gather information about the happenings
around the school. You can now download the school
website as an app on your IPhone. Simply open the website on your mobile phone and follow the
instructions to download a Finely Public School icon onto your home page. This will then allow you
to access a mobile friendly version of our website including the school calendar, newsletters and
access to our Facebook site.
Life Education
Notes have gone home regarding the upcoming visit of the Life Education van. The purpose of the visit is to empower
children and young people to make safer and healthier choices through education. Programs are designed to be relevant
to Australian children and young people every day, as well as their families and communities. I hope you find this
program relevant.

NAPLAN – This Week
Our Year 3 & 5 students will be sitting their NAPLAN assessments this week. The dates of these are as follows:
Tuesday 9th May – Language Conventions and Writing
Wednesday 10th May – Reading
Thursday 11th May - Numeracy
All assessments will commence at around 9:15 in the morning. If you have any concerns regarding NAPLAN, please do
not hesitate to contact the school.

Holy Communion
Parents of children in Year 3 and 4 who are baptised Catholic in the Christian tradition and who wish them to
receive the sacraments of the reconciliation and Holy Communion this year are to contact Fr. Martin (5883
1284) so that appropriate preparation can be organised. At this stage the planned date to start is Thursday 18th
May 2017.

Canteen News Volunteers are needed from 10am until 2pm. The new canteen menu will be sent out to students this week.

Library News The Library is looking for some wonderful parents/ grandparents/ carers who are willing to cover some of our amazing new library books. Your help will be very much appreciated. We would love to get these on our shelves ASAP.
School Bookclub Book club is due back on 12th May.
P&C NEWS The second P&C ladies afternoon was held yesterday. A lovely afternoon was had by all, with lots of very yummy food, raffles, prizes and most of all ladies enjoying some time together. Thank you very much to Tracie Doohan , Kelly Burke, Mardi Baker, Sophie Ingram, Sharon Mclean the hard working P&C Committee, Ladies that made all the yummy food and the wider community for everything they have done to make this a success. P&C is running the Mother’s Day stall this Thursday. Students will be able to purchase 1 gift for their mum, carer, grandmother or someone special. Gifts will range from $2 - $6. All gifts must be paid for at the time of purchase. Thank you to Kirsty Marshall for sourcing the beautiful gifts.

I wish all our mums and carers of Finley Public School a wonderful Mother’s Day this Sunday. Friday 12th May, School Cross Country at the Finley Lake, assistance is needed to help with the Canteen at the Lake. Please contact me if you are able to help. Saturday 20th May Finley APEX Charity Ball, every year we help out at the front gate at the ball & The Apex Club kindly gives a donation to the P&C. If you can help out for 1 hour or more it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me if you are able to help. School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way for young Australians to learn about money and develop good savings habits. Children who deposit money into their Youthsaver account through School Banking earn Dollarmites tokens, which they can save up and redeem for exciting rewards. The rewards available during 2017 are:

School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives $5 when a student makes their first ever School Banking deposit and 5% on every deposit made through the school (to a maximum of $10 per individual deposit).
