Cost effectiveness and manufacturing efficiencyIntegrating many components into one single part saves on tooling and assembly costs. Our hardcoated films are alsoavailable with a matt base finish, which improves robothandling during automated stacking and feeding operations.

Wide spectrum of decoration effectsDepending on the specific film, products can be moulded toalmost any shape and depth. Use AUTOFLEX AutoFormTM

for shallow parts, AUTOFLEX HiFormTM for medium draw orAUTOFLEX XtraFormTM for the ultimate deep forming. All filmscan be decorated using a wide range of printing techniques, most commonly screen printing.

Film Insert MouldingFilm Insert Moulding (FIM) is a versatile and cost effective method of decorating and manufacturingplastic parts, it is an advanced form of In Mould Decoration (IMD) or In Mould Labelling (IML). The flat filmis firstly reverse decorated (normally screen printed), then optionally formed, cut and finally back injectionmoulded.

With FIM you can easily integrate components such as lens and body into a single unit using just onepiece of our formable hardcoated films.

Key Benefits

Create custom texturesWith our AQUATEX FPHTM lacquers, you can create analmost infinite range of tactile textures on parts orselective areas of the part.

Extreme durabilityOur unique hardcoated films offer excellent hardness, abrasion and chemical resistance. The films are reverseprinted thereby protecting the decoration withoutrequiring spray painting or other post mould process. Ourfilms meet the specifications of the automotive, applianceand telecoms industries.

AutomotiveTodays market, expect a smooth high quality finish to thesurface area of car interior trim and decorative parts. AtMacDermid Autotype we can deliver this with our FIMprocesses and AUTOFLEX XtraForm™, a formable hardcoatedpolycarbonate film with a deep high gloss finish. Designedto be UV cured providing maximum formability with scratchand chemical resistance. The durability of the surfaceproduced makes for an attractive long lasting qualitycomponent. In addition, AQUATEX FPH™ texture varnishesoffer a cost effective method of adding selective surfacetexture or antiglare effects to a part, such as instrumentclusters, HVACs, radio bezels, PRNDL and trims.

TelecomsMacDermid Autotype hardcoated films can be used for InMould Labelling (IML) to create lenses, housing and keypadsor even offer the possibility of integrating the housing andlens for example outer casings for mobile phones. The filmsThe films offer unrivalled pencil hardness, scratch andabrasion resistance.

ApplianceFlat or formed control panels with domed switches andlenses can be integrated into one component usingMacDermid Autotype hardcoated films. The scratch, abrasionand chemical resistance of the films provide superior controlpanel durability for demanding domestic applianceapplications.
