COPPEX – Cleaning pellets for injection moulding machines, extruders, blow moulding machines, film blowing plants.
COPPEX was developed for the plastic industry as a quick and timesaving detergent to clean extruders and screws.
COPPEX are universal cleaning/purging pellets for the thermoplastic plastic production and fashioning.
COPPEX is excellent for (the) cleaning/purging before the change of color or material.
COPPEX can easily be used for the cleaning/purging of hotrunner tooling.
Depending on the diameter of the screw between 0,5 to 50 kg of COPPEX are needed for one cleaning/purging procedure. Before cleaning extruders the screens must be demounted (breaker plates can remain within the machine). The speed of the screw must be reduced by 30%. To clean hotrunner tooling the temperature in the hotrunner must be raised by 20-50 ° C depending on the material in the tooling. Before longer runtimes and longer periods of inactivity (e.g. weekends or holidays) it is advisable to implement a prophylactical intermediate cleaning, COPPEX can remain within the machine until the next start-up. When the machine is clear of COPPEX the material to be manufactured can be added. On reaching the operating conditions the production can be continued. if the contamination is severe, a second cleaning/purging process is advisable. COPPEX should remain within the machine for 15 minutes and the temperature of the screw should be reduced by 10 to 20 % before the cleaning process starts.

ProceduralSteps

Injection moulding machines with hotrunner tooling
Extruders Blow moulding machines and film blowing plants
1. Setting of the purging temperature
• Keep normal processing temperature in the screw and at the nozzle
• Keep normal processing temperature in the screw and at the nozzle
• Raise temperature in hotrunner tooling by 10 – 50°C to clean the core
Keep normal processing temperature in the extruder, around the breaker plates and in the profile tooling
Keep normal processing temperature in the extruder, around the breaker plates and in the head
Note:If possible, remove screens before commencing with purging! Raise temperature slightly in the breaker-plate region when screens are still in place.
2. Purging • Reduce screw revolution by approx. 30 %
• Unchangend back- pressure
• Adjust maximal screw stroke
• Purge the screw always before the hotrunner
Note: The purge can also injected into the closed mould (depending on machine). This allows cleaning of the tooling at the same time.
• Unchangend back- pressure
• Adjust maximal screw stroke
• Purge the screw always before the hotrunner
Note: The purge can be injected into the closed hotrunner tooling as well as through the opened mould.
• With open tooling you achieve an extremely quick purging
3. “Flushing” • Follow up, after the purging mix has gone through, with pure plastic granules of the type required by the production to follow. (Quantity: approx. 30% of the amount of the purging granules)
4. Setting of the next operating conditions
• Set all temperatures according to requirements of the plastic raw material which is following.
• Set backpressure as required
• Set screw stroke as required
• Set hotrunner temperature as required
• Set backpressure as required
• Set screw stroke as required.
Note: Inset screens again, if required
