Learn how to use social media

Build a professional network

Incorporate social media into your classroom

Session one will be focused on why it is important to have a presence on social media. We will discuss concerns and questions about using social media as educators. Time will also be spent setting up accounts on different social sites and learning how to navigate the sites. It is important to be familar with the way sites work before using them. The goal of session one is to help familiarize you with social media sites and be comfortable navigating sites.

When it is time to meet for session two, you should feel comfortable navigating social media sites. This session will focus on building a professional learning network. Social media is a place to connect with other professionals all over the country and world. We will discuss how to build relationships with other social media users. Social media is an endless stream of resources, and it is important to know how to filter information so it is not overwhelming.

For our final session we will discuss and plan ways to incorporate social media into the classroom. fter building a newtwork in session two, you should feel more comfortable using social media. We will look at examples of how teachers have incorporated a variety of social media venues into classroom instruction, assignments, and projects. Our goal for this session will be to tweak a lesson or develop a plan using social media as a classroom tool.

This training applies to teachers and adminstrators of all grade levels. If you are wondering what all the buzz around social media is, check out these sessions. If you wonder what that “#” is on the bottom right of the TV screen during your favorite show, this series is for you. Social media doesn’t have to be a mystery. Learn how to harness the power of social media as a professional tool to increase your knowledge. As a bonus, students will appreciate your knowledge of the latest social media trends.
