It’s hard to believe that we are al-ready beginning a new year! We are anticipating to see God do God size things this year and so I want you to go ahead and mark your calendars for some impor-tant dates for the year 2016!

STRENGTH to STAND PARENT INFORMATION MEETING: Sun-day, January 10, I will meet with all students and their parents/guardians briefly in the Ware-house after the morning worship service to discuss our upcoming trip.

STRENGTH to STAND: We will be leaving Saturday, January 16, at 8:00 a.m. and will be returning on Monday, January 18. Please be in prayer for all of our students and adults.

FREEDOM WEEKEND: Don’t miss this event as we walk through the book of Galatians to discover how to be… Free In Christ, Free From Sin, and Free To Serve in the first annual Strength to Stand Tour in Jackson, TN with Scott Dawson, Wade Morris and Rush of Fools on March 4–5. $50 per person.

SUMMER JAM 2016: June 5-10. Sign-ups begin January 10!

OUTREACH UPDATE: At our annual “Hope for the Huntry Heart” meal, we were able to serve over 225 people a great meal and share the Gospel. Each family was able to take home 2 bags of groceries donated by you and a pack-age of ground deer meat provided by the local “Hunters for the Hungry”.WRAPPED with LOVE: Our “Wrapped with Love” ministry was absolutely AMAZING! Thanks so much to every-one who served. We had approxiam-tely 131 families represented with over 435 children and parents in atten-dance. Each child was allowed to get 5 presents for their family members, so that’s about 1500 gifts that were “Wrapped with Love”!!“Hope for the Hungry Heart” and “Wrapped with Love” would not be possible without so much help from our FBC family! You guys are amaz-ing!! It is so great to see the body of Christ working together and serving others. Please make plans to join us next year for these wondersul minis-tries!UPWARD UPDATE: Upward Basket-ball & Cheerleading are underway. Our first games will be Saturday, January 9. Games will continue for the next eight weeks on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. If you have never attended an Upward game, please try to stop by and check it out. Please continue to pray for our coach-es and devotion leaders as they share Jesus with the children and parents each week.Upward Basketball Night at the Milan High School Basketball games will be Friday night, January 8. All Upward players and coaches will get into the game free if they wear their basketball jerseys or coach shirts. The girls’ game begins at 6:00 p.m. with the boys’ game immediately following.LOTTIE MOON POST OFFICE: If you have not checked your mail in the Lottie Moon Post Office, please do so before January 10. This will be the last Sunday that the Post Office will be open.

Go tell it on the mountains that Jesus Christ is born! We celebrate You, Jesus! We rejoice in the Lord always, for He has done great things! May our praises be acceptable in Your sight. We anticipate your blessings and thank You for what you have planned for us in the New Year. We offer ourselves to serve You and strive to become more like You as we share Your great love of salva-tion to the whole world.

Great food, fun & fellowship have been ours to enjoy and a great testimony of relief efforts extended to refugees from Syria to Greece was beautifully shared with WMU in December. RIFA soup kitchen was served on Sunday, Decem-ber 13, and we are calling for pillow cases to continue dress making this new year. Please continue to pray for WMU and all other outreach activities as our church family connects to serve as one body in Christ. We ALL have a usable part in the witness for Jesus. Where is your part? Give it to Jesus.

WOMEN’S MISSIONS UPDATE

The Golden Agers met on Thursday, December 3, for their Christmas lunch and program. Don Edwards shared the Christmas story from the perspective of the innkeeper in Bethlehem, and the Golden Agers enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch catered by Sandy Edwards.

We had 29 people who attended Bellevue’s Christmas presentation, “Coming Home,” on Saturday, Decem-ber 12.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, January 14, at 10:30 a.m. All senior adults are invited to join us monthly for our fun and interesting programs and our add-a-dish lunch.

PASTOR ’S PEN

Dear Church Family,

A little over five years ago, Penny and I began a new chapter in our lives as I became the pastor of this great church. When we came to the great state of Tennessee, we only knew one other couple in the entire state. You have been won-derful to us and have treated us with incredible kindness and love. We appreciate you so very much!

Now that I am in my sixth year of ministry here, I want to ask you to pray for me what the apostle Paul asked the church at Ephesus to pray for him. “Pray for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.” Like Paul, I ask you to pray that the Lord would help me to be-come a better preacher and pastor. Thanks for lifting me up in prayer! I’m excited for what this next year holds. My prayer is that we will love the Lord and others like never before, share the gospel more than we ever have before, and serve our community like never before!

Proud to be your pastor.

January is here. The time for fresh starts. The gyms of Milan will be a little more crowded this month. The produce section at Walmart will sell out a bit quick-er. Many people start trying to go to bed earlier or walk more or spend their time differently. In this season of new beginnings, I encourage you to take a look at how you use your gifts and talents in the local church. Is it time for you to get more involved in your Sunday School class? Maybe it’s time for you to finally sign up to serve in the nursery on Sunday mornings. It is always a great time to join the choir and use your voice to lift a song of praise to the Lord. What is it that you’ve been missing out on with serving the Lord’s church? Take January and get plugged in more. There are several places we need help, and you may be just the person to do it. One great area of ministry at FBC that gets very little recogni-tion is our sound, lighting, and tech crew. These folks make our weekly broadcasts, recordings, and live services what they are. I want to say a special thank you to each of them: Malachi Allen, Lane Corbin, Matt Davidson, Greg Dunphy, Bruce Harrison, Mason Holden, Noah Jackson, Phil Jenkins, Steve Morris, Don Mullins, Tony Smith, David Springer, Steve Sutton, Jenna Wallace, and Todd Watson. My prayer for you in this new year is that you grow as a disciple of Christ daily.
