Flexi EDGE Feederless SiteFeatures and configurations

Internal high-speed optical connections within Flexi EDGE BTS providing:

• Electrical/optical conversions for Gb Eth and timing signals – transparent to BTS

A physical distance of upto 150m between System module and remote sectors with multimode fiber

• Single multimode fiber-pair carries multiplexed data for 3 DTRXs (in 1-3 sectors)

• With single mode fiber and optical transceiver up to 10 kilometers (tbc in testing)

48V DC power feeding/switching for upto 100 m including replaceable Over Voltage Protection plug-in unit (OVP)

• AC/DC Module can be used for longer distance

Flexible support for common configurations:

• Supports 2+2+2 or 6 TRX sector with 1 fiber and 1 DC feeder

• Expandable for bigger configurations with parallel fiber/DC runs

• A BTS can have simultaneously standard local sectors as well as remote sectors

Feederless Site Optical Converter Module (EOCA)

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:• Multiplexing of three Gb Ethernets to one optical fiber

•Optical SPF transceiver can be replaced with other SFP types e.g. for longer lengths•Same SPF and fiber types as will Flexi WCDMA BTS

• DC power distribution for 3 DTRXs at remote end•One (thick) DC feeder btw local and remote converter•Integrated OVP protection for 48VDC feed to remote end (OVP module replaceable at site)

• Support for remote DTRX shut down•Shut down information to remote end via fiber.

Optical Converter dimensions: 1HU x 447mm x 186mm

With this height 2 EOCA modules can be installed inside 3U casing

EOCA can share 3HU casing with DTRX (when DDU not there)

SUMMARY The Nokia Feederless Site provides a wide range of superior features

• Optical connection for 1-3 sectors via single fiber and all-in-one Optical Converter

• Connections from few meters to 10km supported• Smooth capacity expansions with additional optical links• Integrated over-voltage protection devices for the DC feed

• Maximized cell coverage with the leading RF performance• Use standard Flexi EDGE DTRXs with:

– TRX o/p power: 50W/carrier– RX sensitivity: -115dBm (-118dBm w/ 4-way Div)

• Sector expansions as with standard Flexi EDGE BTS• Sectors expandable from 2 to 8 TRXs; combined or uncombined

• Possibility to link remote sectors to standard Flexi EDGE BTS• Coverage to difficult locations (e.g. to indoors) without adding more BTSs
