you if you get stuck on a concept. SI Labs are available to both undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of Math, English/Writing, and Chemistry on a drop-in basis during scheduled hours.

Page 4 Over the Winter break, the IT Department rolled out a new
system called Live@EDU. This is a “cloud” service provided by
Microsoft to qualifying educational institutions. The new service
provides to all of our students, among other things: email
accounts, an online storage system called “SkyDrive,” and access
to the online version of Microsoft Office.
Live@EDU Email:
The new email interface provides a number of new and improved features over the previous
student email system. One of the big ones: improved browser compatibility! Live@EDU is
compatible with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari browsers. You get the full WYSIWYG (what
you see is what you get) editor, which allows you to use rich text and graphics in your email
regardless of which of these browsers you’re using.
Another feature: increased email storage. Your email quota has gone up from 50MB to 10GB, or
an approximate 200x increase!
Also, don’t forget, for those of you who have a smartphone, Live@EDU is compatible with most
popular devices. See the “Using Hodges Email” document on the MyHUgo logon page for
additional instructions on connecting.

Live@EDU SkyDrive:
There’s been some buzz regarding the SkyDrive, and a number of students have already begun to utilize it. Think of SkyDrive as your
own personal online storage device. Each student gets 25GB worth of space, which can be used for both university-related files as
well as personal. You can use this as a means of storing work as you complete it, creating online photo galleries, as well as online
collaboration.
In addition to personal online storage, the SkyDrive provides the ability to share files over the Internet. While by default, the files
you upload are only accessible by you, you can right-click on any file or folder to make it available for other people to view. From
there you can choose whether it’s read-only, or if others can make changes to the file. It will provide you with a web link that you can
send to someone else so they can grab the file, regardless of whether the person is a Live@EDU user or not
The migration to Live@EDU has brought with it a number of features that
students have been asking for, and we are confident these services will continue
to benefit our students. As Microsoft continues to add new functionality to
Live@EDU, the Hodges IT Department will be sure to keep students in the know
so they can get the most out of this exciting new system.

Join the Multicultural Club as Hodges
University celebrates Black History
Month during the month of
February.
Black History Month, or National African
American History Month, is an annual
celebration of achievements by black
Americans and a time for recognizing the
central role of African Americans in U.S.
history. The event grew out of “Negro
History Week,” the brainchild of noted
historian Carter G. Woodson and other
prominent African Americans. Since 1976,
every U.S. president has officially
designated the month of February as Black
History Month. Other countries around the
world, including Canada and the United
Kingdom, also devote a month to
celebrating black history.

5k Run—5:45p.m. This year members of the Healthy Hodges Community will be participating in the biggest race
in SWFL! The Edison Festival of Light 5k starts in Downtown Fort Myers just before the
Grand Parade starts, and sends you through the same streets as the parade. It’s an
unbelievable experience as you race through the course with over 200,000 people in attendance
awaiting the parade. The race costs $20, you can register to run through the
Ft. Myers Track Club website www.ftmyerstrackclub.com
*All runners from Hodges that complete the race will receive a custom Medal and Shirt*
Grand Parade—7:00p.m. A tradition for Hodges University, participating in the Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade is
a tremendous experience as we celebrate with students, staff, and faculty on the Healthy Hodges
Float! Stroll along the parade route in front of nearly a quarter-million people that have lined
the streets of Downtown Fort Myers for the largest parade in the Southeastern United States.
We’d love to have you join our team! The parade will start at Fort Myers High School, you must
be present by 7:00p.m. to walk with the float.
For more information on either of these events, you can contact
