Darkstar, signed to the legendary Hyperdub Records, will be bringing their moody, synth pop, Dubstep-esque talents to Coalition. The band have recently adjusted their focus, and added lead singer James Buttery as a front man. The result is a brave, low-key pop sound, which discards with the cheap thrills and treadmill ideas that many deploy to access success. Darkstar will creep up on you, seducing you with achingly gorgeous, synthesized song writing and a live show that soaks the audience in atmosphere while the song writing grabs them by the heart.7.30pm – 10.30pm£7.50www.myspace.com/hyperdub

1. What’s your most unappealing habit? J: Fantasy football, I’m obsessed with it which can drive anyone who isn’t slightly mad.

2. What’s your drink of choice? P: Whiskey soda

3. Who’s on your stereo at the moment? P: Janelle Monae has been there since the Summer

4. If you could play a gig anywhere, where would you want to play? J: Tokyo, it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go and I think we’d go down alright there.

5. Who’s the most famous person you’ve met? P: We met Will Young at T4 transmission a couple of years ago and he commented on my trousers and touched my leg in the process.

q&a Man Like Me10. If you could have

written any song or track, what would it be? P: Again, horrible question. I remember being upstairs in a venue and hearing Justin Timberlake’s ‘My Love’ for the first time and literally running downstairs in shock to ask the DJ who/what it was. It completely reshaped the sound of pop today, for better or worse.

11. What’s your fancy dress costume of choice? J: The shower costume that Daniel Larusso wears in Karate Kid.

12. If you could change anything in history what would you change? J: I’d probably have tried to stop a few wars.

13. do you watch reality TV? P: I hate it but I have to watch X Factor, I think Cher Lloyd would make a great addition to our band.

14. What’s always on your rider? Beer

6. What makes you happy? P: Watching a beat made in my bedroom turn into a song with a video and an iTunes 79p button.

7. What musician or band do you most admire? P: That is too much to ask.

8. Thoughts on the music industry today? P: I’m still trying to get my head round it all. My only experience of it has been during a time of big change due to the Internet, which we owe pretty much everything to.

9. What did you last dream about? J: I dreamt I was Theo Walcott
