Examine how the joys and trials of Abraham Lincoln's boyhood years formed his personality, shaped his early political notions and molded his character. Several notable historians share their insights on this little-known chapter in Lincoln's life and legacy. Lincoln's close bonds with his family, and the numerous personal tragedies that he was forced to endure during his formative years would shape his attitudes and cast a dark shadow of depression that would remain deeply ingrained in him throughout his life.

Go inside the world of five teenage girls from North Texas as they navigate the joys and sorrows of their romantic relationships over the course of one year. The young women featured openly discuss hopes and fears, choices of sex or abstinence, dependence and independence and their dreams for the future. They may hail from different economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, yet their stories share a striking commonality.

Young Lincoln

Boyfriends

Follow a surprising friendship that emerged between an embittered Klu Klux Klan leader and an outspoken black activist. In the early 1970s, Ann Atwater, a poor welfare mother, and C.P. Ellis, the Exalted Grand Eyclops of the Durham Klan were on opposing sides of the debate over public school integration. Initially, their relationship was fraught with distrust and hatred. Yet in working together and understanding one another, they formed a deep and loving friendship that continues to this day.

Celebrate our national treasured and irreplaceable part of our national legacy: America's National Parks. From the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone to the Grand Teton and Yosemite, explore the protected wilderness areas and the amazing recreational opportunities offered by our national parks. No two vistas are alike, but every park has one thing in common, each of the is a living symbol of the untamed American spirit.

America's National Parks

A profile of two African-American brothers—Louis and Carl Stokes—who changed the course of American politices. This inspirational American story begins by chronicling the Stokes' poverty-stricken childhood in Depression-era Cleveland and moves through the Stokes' education, law careers and rise in political prominence during the turbulent civil rights era. Also included are intimate recollections from their friends and collegues, including President Barak Obama and Jesse Jackson.

This crucial, but often overlooked, time in the stateman's life—the critical 23-year period (1837-1860) describes how Lincoln's formative experiences as a young lawyer on Illinois' Eighth Judicial Circuit informed his views on the issues he would eventually face as president, including several cases involving slavery.

Many Americans remember former Vice President Hubert Humphrey as a cheerleader for the Vietnam War—shunned by his own party and mistrusted by a generation of young people. Others considered him a great progressive, a guiding light for the post–New Deal liberal movement that forged The New Frontier an The Great Society, and a champion of civil rights. Humphrey's own words and interviews with other notables explore his journey through the major events of the 20th century.
