From the Desk of Father Kurt “Refiners fire my hearts one desire is to be Holy, set apart for

You Lord.”

These words from one of my favorite songs, comes from the first

reading of this Sunday’s liturgy. The Prophet Maliki is telling the

people that the Lord is coming, and when he comes he will wipe away

everything that is not holy. The Hebrew people understood that for

there to be forgiveness of sin, there would have to be sacrifice made

to atone for it. In the feast of the Presentation of the Lord we come to

realize that it is not the blood of animals that forgives sin, but the

blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who offered Himself up for us on

the Cross. Jesus is the refiner’s fire that takes away sin and restores

us to God. The Christian life is one of purgation. He or she enters

into the reality of Christ’s sacrifice and willingly permits him or herself

to make up for what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ. The

purification that we go through in this life to become Holy hopefully

will prevent us from having to experience it in the next life. On this

Feast of the Presentation of our Lord, let us ask Him to purify us of

selfishness and become Holy like Him.

Love in Christ

Respect Life – Join us, along with Mary American Life League launched the Marian Blue Wave this past October. Its goal is to end abortion, with the help of our Blessed Mother and her Son. It is a call to Catholics across America to pray a weekly Rosary with the specific intentions of ending all clinical, chemical, medical, and surgical abortions and shutting down every Planned Parenthood facility in the United States. It all began when Bishop Joseph Strickland of the Diocese of Tyler, Texas tweeted that “what this country needs is a Marian Blue Wave.” Please consider joining this prayer movement! For information, see www.marianbluewave.com and https://www.all.org/marian-blue-wave-aims-for-5000/.

St. Theodore School News

What a fun week we had! We just finished up our Catholic School’s Week. The students had many activities to help celebrate our school. On Monday we had parachute games and a maze. On Tuesday we went to a movie (Dr. Dolittle). On Wednesday we made pottery, cookies, and thank you cards for our community helper/workers. On Thursday we had lunch with some of our community helper/workers and toured our town (City Offices, Fire Station, and Ambulance Bay). Lastly, on Friday we went ice skating. We love our school! A BIG thank you to the parent and parishioner volunteers that helped us during this week.

Catholic United Raffle goes until March 1st. This fundraiser gives 100% of money collected directly to the school. This year’s top prize is $20,000 or a 2020 Buick Encore. Raffle tickets are $5.00 each. Watch for any students selling tickets after Mass. Raffle tickets will also be available in the School and Parish offices. Get your raffle tickets while you can.

Check out the school’s Weekly Newsletter on the St. Theodore website at www.sttheo.org for school updates and happenings.

Have a blessed weekend! St. Theodore Catholic School

Physician Assisted Suicide myth: There are some ways of living where the person would be better off dead. Truth: This is insulting and threatening to millions of people living with disabilities. Every national disability rights organization in the USA (15 of them) has come out against physician assisted suicide legislation. Catholic compassion: If someone says they would be better off dead, tell them that is not true, their lives have meaning, and offer them help finding a counselor. If the person is living with disabilities, include and welcome them. If they are bound to bed and cannot communicate, bring community to them. Many people’s lives are deeply enriched by relationships with friends and family with disabilities. All human beings are beloved in the eyes of God and we are called to be friends to each other.

Don't Give Up Chocolate For Lent This Year! Are you seeking to deepen your relationship with

Christ this Lent? A prayer group can be a special way

to join together during this rich season to help us open

our eyes to the amazing possibilities the Lord has

waiting for us. St. Theodore is planning Lenten

Prayer Groups each Sunday of Lent from 10-11

AM. Attendees will receive Matthew Kelly’s, Rediscover the Saints

and prayer journal as a resource to help. Those interested in being a

group leader or participant, please contact the parish office at 507-

373-0603 by February 20, 2020. First meeting will be Sunday, March

1st in Marian Hall during KC Auxiliary Coffee & Rolls.
