The Most Holy Trinity By Rev. William G. Most
Perhaps the deepest, the most profound of all mysteries is the mystery of the Trinity. The Church teaches us that although there is only one God, yet, somehow, there are three Persons in God. The Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God, yet we do not speak of three Gods, but only one God. They have the same nature, substance, and being. We came to know this immense mystery because Christ revealed it to us. Just before ascending He told them: "Go teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). We know that these Three are not just different ways of looking at one person. For at the Last Supper, Jesus told us: "I came forth from the Father." So He is different from the Father. But He also promised: "If I go, I will send Him [the Paraclete] to you. . . . He will guide you to all truth" (John 16:28, 7, 13). So the Holy Spirit is also different. Even though the Three Persons are One God, yet they are distinct: for the Father has no origin, He came from no one. But the Son is begotten, He comes from the Father alone. The Holy Spirit comes or proceeds from both the Father and the Son. These different re-lations of origin tell us there are three distinct Persons, who have one and the same di-vine nature. Even though everything the Three Persons do outside the Divine nature is done by all Three, yet it is suitable that we attribute some works specially to one or the other Person. So we speak of the Father especially as the power of creation, of the Son as the wisdom of the Father, of the Holy Spirit as goodness and sanctification. The two doctrines of the Trinity and the Incarnation are the foundation of Christian life and worship. By becoming man, God the Son offered us a share in the inner life of the Trinity. By grace, we are brought into the perfect communion of life and love which is God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This sharing in the life of the Trinity is meant to culminate in heaven, where we will see the three Persons face to face, united to them in unspeakable love.
Prayer of Thanksgiving to the Trinity By St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380), Doctor of the Church
O Eternal God! O Eternal Trinity!
Through the union of Thy divine nature Thou hast made so precious the Blood of Thine only-begotten Son!
O eternal Trinity, Thou art as deep a mystery as the sea,
in whom the more I seek, the more I find; and the more I find, the more I seek.
For even immersed in the depths of Thee,
my soul is never satisfied, always famished and hungering for Thee,
eternal Trinity, wishing and desiring to see Thee, the True Light.

AFFIRMATION OF WEDDING VOWS
Father’s Day is an important time to celebrate the role of fatherhood within the Christian family and is an ideal day for fathers to celebrate and honor their marriage vows. On Father’s Day weekend (June 17 – 18), the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring Affirmation of Wedding Vows. Fr. Roberto will per-form the brief ceremony following the 5 PM Satur-day Mass and the 9 AM Sunday Mass for all mar-ried couples of the parish who would like to partici-pate.
The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 –2. We are closed on Fridays.
Have you ever wondered what we do in CLOW? Please come and observe it some Sunday, and see how we present the liturgy
to the children. It may give you some ideas on how to share the Good News with your children and grand-children or maybe you would like to volunteer to help us with this ministry. It really is very easy and simple and is only a once a month commitment while you are at Mass. Please come and observe CLOW. If you would like to volunteer, contact Gerrie Lambo at 404-642-0362 for more information.

“Lord, It is Good to Give Thanks to You” Psalm 92
My Dear Parishioners, In early 1992, The Glenmary Home Missioners planned to establish a new Catholic mission in the area. The first pastor, Father Chet Artysiewicz, arrived in August 1992. Father Chet and Brother Dennis Craig, from the Glenmary Order, were assigned the responsibility of forming Catholic communities in Greene, Putnam and Han-cock counties. The first mass in the Greensboro Community, “Christ Our King,” was celebrated at George and Mildred Stiffler’s Home in October 1992. Father Chet carried all the essentials for celebrating Mass - chalices, hosts, and missalettes in a large blue Tupperware container. The first public Mass in the Greensboro Community, “Christ Our King,” was celebrated on November 1, 1992, in Greensboro, GA with approximately 90 people in attendance. The first Mass celebrated in Eatonton, “Christ Our Savior,” was January 3, 1993, with 71 participating. In 1995, the Glenmary Society met with the families and they combined to form a new parish, Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church. After several pastors, on July 1, 2014, Archbishop Gregory appointed me as the 7th Pastor of Christ Our King and Savor Catholic Church. Today, we are over 600 families in the parish; and in thanksgiving to God and to the Glenmary Home Missioners, we are going to continue supporting one of the Glenmary Catholic Missions: Holy Family Mission, located in Blakely, GA. Thank you for your generosity, Father Roberto Herrera

FAITH FORMATION
What did you say?
Are you ever confused by all the “church” terminology and abbrevi-
ations you hear such as: CCD? PSR? RE? YM? Faith Formation? Family Faith Formation? Catechesis? Catechist? RCIA? Sac Prep? Do you won-
der what it all means and why the terms keep changing? Over the
next few weeks, I’ll explain a few of those terms and try to make it
all a bit simpler.
Let’s start with the most current terms you see and hear.
Faith Formation: A combination of learning about the Catholic Faith and forming a personal
relationship with God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Faith Formation engages the mind, the
heart and the hands as we begin to live what we learn. Faith Formation is for all ages from
the very youngest to the very oldest and begins in the home.
YM: Youth Ministry is the Faith Formation program for middle and high school students.
The adult leaders walk with the teens on their journey to a more mature faith and greater
participation in the life of the parish.

Trinity Sunday
Gospel Reading
John 3:16-18
God sent his Son into the world to save the
world.
Family Connection
Because of God’s great love for us, he sent his Son, Jesus, to save the world. Jesus, in turn, sent the Holy Spirit so that our
faith in God and his love would be strengthened. The nurturing experiences of family life also help us to understand and
have faith in God’s love.
Create a family poster together showing all the ways in which your family experiences God’s great love. Use symbols,
pictures, and words to show how you have seen God at work in your family life and in our history. Then read together
today’s Gospel, John 3:16-18. Pray together, thanking God for his gift of love. Conclude by praying the Glory Be to the
Father or today’s Psalm.
FIRST COMMUNION PHOTOS ARE READY FOR PICK-UP

BLOOD DRIVE
We want to thank all the parishioners who made the Red Cross Blood Drive on May 18 a suc-cess. We collected 146 pints of blood from pa-rishioners and the community at large which will be instrumental in saving many lives. Donors had a pleasant experience with minimal wait times and a friendly cast of volunteers. Please put October 12 on your calendar as our next Blood Drive.
The Gospel today is sometimes called “the Gospel in miniature” because it so concisely sums up the Gospel message. In even more condensed form, “God loved…God gave…” is the paradigm for stewardship—we give because we love.

PENTECOST 2017
