The 8th INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY AND TRANSPORT CONGRESS will be held in Bogotá from April 4 to 6 in Corferias, organized by TRANSMILENIO S.A. - ALCALDÍA MAYOR DE BOGOTÁ.

This event, in which 100 national and international experts will take part discussing topics of Mobility and Transport, and will have Argentina as its guest country, will be framed in three thematic lines:

1. Urban Development and Mobility2. BRT and other transport systems3. Technology and Culture at service of the user

The guest country not only has a great affinity with Colombia, but also many meeting points in the public policies of its capital cities. Buenos Aires and Bogotá have a similar vision of urban development and mobility. Also important is the number of users that move in the mobility and transportation systems of these two Latin American capitals.

Buenos Aires, capital city of Argentina, has a population of approximately 3 million inhabitants, a figure that increases to more than 12 million when its urban agglomeration is considered. It is a city that also bets on intermodality, connecting the BRT, the collective transport system, the metro, the train and bicycles, attracting with these modes around 200 million trips per month. It has made its bet on a development in Mobility and Transport, that has transcended the entire territory of Argentina. Hence, the decisions from public policy, make this capital a city that is embraced with the decisions of the implementation of mobility and transport of the city.

Introduction

Bogotá, on the other hand, with more than 8 million inhabitants and a metropolitan population that exceeds 12 million, has become a world leader in Mobility and Transport, following the implementation of the largest system of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit).

This has had an impact on the urban and socio-cultural transformation of the city, and the system has become the circulatory system of the Colombian capital, today replicated in four other capital cities of the country.

The transformation of the city has been accompanied by decisions that support the intermodality of the transport system, such as the construction of a system of bike lanes, a 120-kilometer circuit where more than 1,5 million bicycle users circulate. The strategy is complemented with public space, where the pedestrian friendly infrastructure is built, allowing the citizens to enjoy the city and connect with the great public transportation system led by TransMilenio.
