Father Robley E. Whitson, who served at parish assignments in Katonah and the Bronx, died June 12. He was 88.
Cardinal Dolan will offer the Funeral Mass in the chapel of the John Cardinal O’Connor Pavilion in Riverdale, the Bronx, Thursday, June 20, at 11 a.m. Msgr. Robert Stern, a retired priest of the archdiocese, will deliver the homily. A wake will take place there from 10 to 11 a.m. that day.
Father Whitson served as a parochial vicar at St. Mary of the Assumption par-ish, Katonah, 1959-1960, and St. Jerome’s, the Bronx,
1958-1959. He also had a summer assign-ment at the Pontifical Catholic Universi-ty of Puerto Rico in Ponce, 1958. He went on a leave of absence in 1960.
Father Whitson later served as chair-man of theology department at Fordham University.
At the time of his death, Father Whit-son was residing at the Edward Cardinal Egan Pavilion of the St. John Vianney Priests Residence in Riverdale.
Msgr. Stern, a classmate of Father Whit-son’s at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, recalled
the priest as an “original person, who was an inter-esting mixture of intellectual talent, artistic ability with a capacity to think outside the box.”
Father Whitson worked to bring “mutual under-standing among different religions,” Msgr. Stern added.
Born in San Francisco, Father Whitson earned a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and also studied at Yale University. He studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, and was ordained by Cardinal Francis Spellman in St. Patrick’s Cathedral May 31, 1958.
Father Whitson will be cremated.

Sister Janet Hartwick, O.P., who served as director of personnel at Dominican College in Orangeburg, died May 13 at St. Martin de Porres Community in Blauvelt. She was 91.
From 1979 to 2009, Sister Janet served in administrative capacities at the college, including student loan officer. She also served in the treasurer’s office of the Dominican
Sisters of Blauvelt, 1971-1979. Born in Nyack, she entered the
Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt in 1971 and made final vows in 1975. She held an associate’s degree in business from Dominican College.
A Funeral Mass was offered May 17 at St. Dominic Convent. Burial was at the St. Dominic Convent Cemetery.
Sister Marita Regina Bronner, S.C., who served at SS. Peter and Paul School in the Bronx for 27 years, died June 8 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. She was 94.
Sister Marita Regina was at SS. Peter and Paul as a teacher, 1991-1995; admin-istrator, 1974-1991; and principal, 1966-1972. She taught at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Shrub Oak, 1972-1974; Blessed Sacrament, Staten Island, 1965-1966; St.
Patrick, Manhattan, 1955-1965; St. Agatha Home, Nanuet, 1946-1955; and Visitation, the Bronx, 1944-1945.
Born in Manhattan, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1943 and professed final vows in 1949.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated June 12 in Mount St. Vincent Convent Assembly Room, the Bronx. Burial was in St. Ag-atha Cemetery, Nanuet.

The Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal (CASA) is the annual fund for the Archdiocese, raising over $20 million a year, to support the pastoral, educational and charitable efforts which impact countless people throughout its ten counties.
We are looking for campaign managers with 1-3 years’ experience passionate about the Church to be a part of our development team. Ideal candidates possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Responsibilities:• Help provide financial strength and stability to the Archdiocese of New
York and its parishes by assisting in raising money for necessary capital projects, operational expenses, debt reduction, or to enhance reserves for future needs
• Meet regularly with pastors across the archdiocese to design a tailored approach in order to help the parish reach its fundraising goals
• Develop and implement strategies for increasing participation in assigned parishes• Identification and advancement of prospects who have the capacity for greater giving• Data management and analysis with the goal of maximizing fundraising efforts• Prioritize closing gifts in the $500-$5,000 range
Position Requirements:• Education: Bachelor’s degree required• Driver’s license required as driving is a necessity for visiting assigned parishes• Proficient in MS Office Suite• Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus• Fluency in Spanish is a plus
