why shop fair trade?

style forecast

Happy Fall!

With crisp, cool weather comes the reawakening of our inner style and fashion lover. This year,

we urge you to think about style as both a form of self expression and an act of support for

craftspeople and garment workers around the world.

When you shop with FTF members:

• You improve the quality of life for artisans and their communities

• You take meaningful action against unfair industry practices

• Your purchasing power encourages others to do business in a better way

FTF members and producer partners work hard to blend tradition, design and style in their

product lines. In this guide, we’ve picked some of our favorites that are perfect for the upcoming

season. We hope you’re inspired by what you see!

Suzanne Cotter, Marketing & Branding Manager

In apparel, accessories, jewelry and home décor, you’ll see a mix of fresh colors, patterns and

new sources of inspiration. The forecast shows that vibrant color contrasts with lots of neutral

and natural layers will keep outfits interesting and polished. Trends like grunge, bold nature

prints, and global patterns are back. Homes will look and feel like a relaxing retreat when

styled for warmth, comfort and earthiness.

Gold accents never left. This year, try wearing big, bold, statement-

making gold that’s sleek, shimmery, or antique-inspired. Hint: gold

looks great with Emerald!

3

While arm party-style layering is still a go-to bracelet

look, cuffs made of natural materials and colorful

beads (with layers or alone!) make the perfect

statement piece.

What does this mean?

When an organization displays this logo, it means they are a

member of the Fair Trade Federation . They have made a full

commitment to fair trading practices and every business decision

is made with the well-being of artisans and farmers in mind.

This commitment runs deep, and it represents a high bar of

fair trade.

When you see the FTF logo on a product tag or package, you’ll also see the

member’s name. This is because FTF membership represents an entire

organization, not just a single product. By buying products sold by FTF members,

you’re helping to transform the lives of artisans and farmers around the world.

FTF members undergo a rigorous screening process to evaluate their internal

commitment to all 9 Fair Trade Federation principles.
