join the Park District for a classy
afternoon on the veranda overseeing
the park. Its time to get all dressed
up and drink some beverages while
snacking on delicious treats. We

Scarecrow Festival! Dozens of whim-
sical, clever creations convene along
the tree-lined paths in Lincoln Park,
downtown St. Charles, for the annual
Scarecrow Festival this autumn. Join
the Park District as we take a trip
to St. Charles for one of the favorite
family events in the Midwest! All
Ages welcome.

Saturday, October 15th
One of the most popular Disney mov-
ies of all time is capturing hearts in
a whole new way: as a hit BroadwayMusical! Join the Park District as we
experience all of the classic songs
and show-stopping numbers. Believe
in the magic of Mary Poppins and
discover a world where anything can
happen if you let it. The fee provides
transportation to theatre and ticket.

Halloween Fear Home
Makeover Contest
Thursday, October 27th
This year the Park District will be
holding its 8th annual Holiday Home
Makeover Contest. The best decorat-
ed houses in Forest Park will receive
FREE pool passes for up to four fam-
ily members. What a great way to
beat next summers heat?
On October 27th, the Park District
Commissioners and staff will serve
as judges and drive through the
Village to determine the winners.
In order to be considered you mustregister your address with the Park
District office. Factors being con-
sidered are: curb appeal, creativity,
use of theme, place, use of yard and
house and originality. Families may
win once every three years.
Sonny Acres Pumpkin Patch
Saturday, October 29th
During the month of October the
celebration of harvest time spreads
over a large area of Sonny Acres.
Decorated with mountainous piles of
pumpkins, you will discover a farm
market, spook house, rides and all
kinds of Halloween displays and
attractions scattered about. Trip
includes transportation and the
patch is free admission.
All ages welcome.

Oak Park and find out about some of the spirits who haunt the community.
The Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest offers its 20th
Annual Tale of the Tombstones walking tour of Forest Home Cemetery on
Oct. 16; the radio play Dracula on Oct. 23; and the 2nd Annual Spirits in the
Night Haunted House Walk on Oct. 28. Prepare to be entertained and may-
be even scaredand to learn a little more about your communitys history!
