Isaiah 8:23- 9:3 [Joy and Light] Isaiah tells of the land in the west where there is no gloom, yoke that bound them is to be smashed. Responsorial Psalm Ps 27 [Wait with Courage] The Lord is my light and my salvation. 1 Corinthians 1:10-13, 17 [Need for Unity] Paul warns the people of Corinth that there must be unity among the people of God. There is only one gospel message. Jesus cannot be divided, no matter who preaches about him. ALLELUIA- Cf. Mt. 4:23 [Proclaim the Gospel] Jesus proclaimed the Gospel of the kingdom, and cured every disease among the people. Matthew 4:12-23 [Reform Your Lives] Jesus preached reform. At the Sea of Galilee he called Peter and Andrew, James and John, to become fishers of people. At once, they left their nets to follow him. Jesus taught and worked miracles.

Congratulations, to all who are celebrating their Birthdays, Anniversaries and other joyous occasions this week. We wish you many more years, all of them pleasing to God! Offering Envelopes We have not gotten an update on the status of the delivery date of offering envelopes. We will be in contact with the company this week and hopefully have more information for you. Please continue to be patient. Temporary envelopes are available at each Mass. If you have not received temporary envelopes and would like them please call Tammy at the parish office. Please be sure to include offering date, Your Name and envelope number on each envelope. If you don’t know your number, no worries. You do not need to write in your address unless it has changed. If a change of address is needed you should personally inform the Parish Office. We apologize for the inconvenience. CPR/AED TRAINING The Parish Council has looked into providing CPR/AED training for interested members here at St. Edward. We are looking for 10 able-bodied parishioners to take the training. The training date is to be determined. The training takes about 6.5 to 7 hours and will take place on a weekend day. The training will include Adult CPR and use of an AED machine. The Parish is paying for the training to ensure should an emergency occur we will have trained individuals available. Please see Michele Hunt on Sundays after mass to sign up. You can see Janice Torres on Saturday after mass. Remember you must be able to get down on the floor/ground and apply enough pressure to correctly administer CPR. 2020 Upcoming Fundraisers - The following are potential fundraisers for this year.

• Jazz on The Grove - usually the Sunday after Mother's Day

• Crab Feast - July, August • Home Coming - Second Sunday in October

• Bulletin announcements for the weekend of 22nd and 23rd should be submitted early but no later than Friday, February 14, 2020.

African American History Month If there is anyone (at least 2 adult participants) who would like to share a bit of Black /African American History with us at Mass during the month of February please see Tammy. If there are any youth interested in participating please see Mr. Marcel. Anointing During Mass next Sunday we will have anointing of the sick. Anointing will be every first Sunday of the month throughout the year. Presentation of the Lord and Feast day of St. Blaise February 2, is the Presentation of the Lord we will have Blessing of Candles and Blessing of the throat World Marriage Day February 9 is world marriage day and we invite married couples to join us at Mass. During the Mass there will be a blessing of couples. Ash Wednesday February 26, 2020 – Mass at Noon and 7:00 p.m. There is no need to bring in last year’s Palm to burn. We have Ashes available for Ash Wednesday Station of the Cross We will again have Stations of the Cross together with our neighboring Parishes – Immaculate Conception, St. Peter Claver & St. Pius, St. Gregory, and St. Edward. On each Friday during Lent stations will be held at one of the churches listed above beginning at 5:30, followed by disscusion and a simple meal. Penence Service will be held here at St. Edward on April 3rd. This information with dates and location will be placed in the bulletin weekly throughout the Lenten Season.
