Dear sisters and brothers in Christ: Welcome back, religious education students and parents! How wonderful it is to look at all the children coming back to meet Jesus and to learn about the words of God! Seeing our religious education classrooms decorated in preparation for the students and witnessing the enthusiasm of both students and catechists, gives me great hope that faith in God is actively alive and will continue to dwell on earth regardless of the current trend of secularism. Thank you students and parents who participated in the parents’ meeting. I deeply appreciate all catechists, their aides, and the volunteers who organize and translate our meetings. I am certain that your generosity and stewardship of time and talent have already conveyed the meaning of God’s love and goodness to our children. Most of all, it was wonderful to observe parents with their children who came to worship the Lord at the weekend Masses. I was very happy to see that the sanctuary was packed, that the faithful were singing with one voice, and that we shared with each other the sign of peace with a happy smile. Cer- tainly, what Jesus said in the Gospel the last week was true: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Mt 18:20) Jesus is indeed with us, and we can experience it when we worship the Lord together in the church. Although I am joyful to see that our religious program is about to begin, I would like to inform you of a change in our staff. Rita Motl, who has been our Director of Religious Education, is no longer working for us. I am grateful to Mrs. Motl for all of her hard work and her legacy with our Religious Education Program. I am confident that her genuine love of children and hard work will resonate in our future program. Please pray for her as she goes through this transition period. I also ask for your prayers for a successful religious pro- gram so that Christ may reach every heart of our children through the works of our catechists. I humbly ask you to pray for our sisters and brothers who are persecuted because of their Christian faith in Iraq. As you probably know, Islamic State militants have forced thousands of Iraqi Christians from their homes over the past few weeks. Some have also been brutally attacked, murdered or enslaved. Pope Francis recently addressed them: “You are in the heart of the Church; she suffers with you and is proud of you; you are her strength and the concrete and authentic witnesses to her message of salvation, forgiveness and love. The Lord bless you and protect you!” Although we are many, we are indeed one body in Christ. (Rom 12:5) Their suffering is our suffering. Their loss is our loss. Let us pray that the Good Lord will touch and heal their wounded hearts and minds. Most of all, let us pray for God’s peace on earth, especially all the places where conflict and war are present among people. May the peace of Christ dwell in us and in all the humanity! Amen. In Christ, Notice: I would like to inform you that food pantry is open the LAST Saturday of each month, not the 4 th Saturday nor Sunday. I apolo- gize for any confusion. If you are interested in this particular ministry, please contact Deacon Dave Shoemake for further information. Thank you.

October 21st

Registration is now in progress.

The registration packet is available on our website www.ctkbelton.org under the

Sacrament Menu.

Registration deadline: Monday, October 6 at 3PM.

No other Baptism classes until next year.

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ:

Welcome back, religious education students and parents! How wonderful it is to

look at all the children coming back to meet Jesus and to learn about the words of

God! Seeing our religious education classrooms decorated in preparation for the

students and witnessing the enthusiasm of both students and catechists, gives me

great hope that faith in God is actively alive and will continue to dwell on earth

regardless of the current trend of secularism. Thank you students and parents who

participated in the parents’ meeting. I deeply appreciate all catechists, their aides,

and the volunteers who organize and translate our meetings. I am certain that your

generosity and stewardship of time and talent have already conveyed the meaning

of God’s love and goodness to our children.

Most of all, it was wonderful to observe parents with their children who came to

worship the Lord at the weekend Masses. I was very happy to see that the sanctuary

was packed, that the faithful were singing with one voice, and that we shared with each other the sign of peace with a happy smile. Cer-

midst of them.” (Mt 18:20) Jesus is indeed with us, and we can experience it when we worship the Lord together in the church.

who has been our Director of Religious Education, is no longer working for us. I am grateful to Mrs. Motl for all of her hard work and

her legacy with our Religious Education Program. I am confident that her genuine love of children and hard work will resonate in our

future program. Please pray for her as she goes through this transition period. I also ask for your prayers for a successful religious pro-

gram so that Christ may reach every heart of our children through the works of our catechists.

I humbly ask you to pray for our sisters and brothers who are persecuted because of their Christian faith in Iraq. As you probably know,

Islamic State militants have forced thousands of Iraqi Christians from their homes over the past few weeks. Some have also been brutally

attacked, murdered or enslaved. Pope Francis recently addressed them: “You are in the heart of the Church; she suffers with you and is

bless you and protect you!” Although we are many, we are indeed one body in Christ. (Rom 12:5) Their suffering is our suffering. Their

Please consider the Pope’s prayer intentions for the

Month of September:

That the mentally disabled may receive the love and help they need for a dignified life …

Para que los discapacitados mentales reciban el amor y la ayuda que necesitan para llevar una vida digna ...

That Christians, inspired by the Word of God, may serve the poor and suffering … Para que los Cristianos inspirados en la Palabra de Dios, se comprometan al servicio de

los pobres y de los que sufren ...

Sept. 13-14 -- Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross The Scripture readings for the great feast remind us of Christ’s merciful love and sacrifice for us. Jesus emp-

tied himself for our sake and gave his life for our salvation. How do we mirror God’s love in our world? What

sacrifices are we willing to make? Are they only for those near to us, our family and friends? How can we

show merciful and sacrificial love for strangers or even enemies? What act of love or sacrifice can you make

for the poor, a prisoner, an enemy this week in gratitude for the great love God has shown to you?

mostrado?

Pastoral Plan update

The Core Team presented the first draft of the new Pastoral Plan to the Deans on Aug. 22. The

deans made comments and recommendations for this first draft. In particular, they:

Highlighted the need for the plan to offer particular objectives that can be accomplished and a way to measure

success;

Underscored the importance of an implementation process that includes strategies to stay focused on the plan

during the implementation time period; and

Affirmed the three strategic priorities and supported the use of media resources to communicate the plan and

information about it.

The deans received copies of a PowerPoint presentation that can be shared with the priests in their deanery. Eve-

ryone present was very aware that the diocese is currently experiencing significant demographic changes that will

affect the work of the diocese for many years and that the plan’s main purpose should guide us as we continue the

mission of Jesus Christ. The team from Essential Conversations is now in the process of working on the second

draft, which the Steering Committee will review at their September meeting. To stay updated on the Pastoral Plan,

please connect with the diocesan website.

Saturday, September 20: Discerning God's Will In specific circumstances

of life and in major decisions, we wonder, “What is God’s will for me?” Normally we do not hear an exterior voice; but through prayer, we can be guided to listen to an interior

voice. The Apostles of Interior Life are Religious Sisters from Italy trained in Ignatian Spirituality. They will lead the retreat “Discerning God’s Will” on Sept. 20 at Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center in Belton. The sisters serve at St. Mary Catholic Center in College Station and will share their wisdom and experience. Cost is $35 and includes lunch.

254-780-2436 o www.austindiocese.org/cedarbrake
